Nanshee is promoting fairness of outcome, which will never be achieved even if, or more accurately particularly if this nation goes full commie. What we need is fairness of opportunity, which the Democrats (with the help of many Republicans) have been intent of destroying.
Illinois requires licensing in over 100 professions, including acupuncturists, auctioneers, barbers, boxing (participants, referees, promoters, timekeepers and trainers), cemetary managers, check printers, cosmetologists, detection of deception persons (whatever that is), estheticians, funeral directors, finger print vendors, hair braiders, home inspectors, interior designers, music therapists, pawnbrokers, and on and on. Keep in mind that with all of these licenses, people are required to spend usually thousands of dollars and significant time even qualifying to obtain a license.
These are what is called in the business world “barriers to entry,” and existing businesses love them. But they restrict opportunity for people to go into these occupations.
