TheStream: Progressive activism has a history of violence, and it’s getting worse. Activists have blocked people from attending talks by conservative speakers. Ann Coulter got a pie thrown at her. Leftists aren’t the only ones throwing fists, of course. But lately it seems there’s been an uptick in violence from their side of the spectrum.
There are always fringe elements in any large political bloc. But most people on the mainstream left used to oppose such violence. Recently, though, that’s changed. When Richard Spencer got punched in the face, one leftist defended the attack as a “civic duty.” The New York Times wasn’t sure there was anything wrong with it. Liberals celebrated on the internet with memes and games.
When students and others rioted at UC-Berkeley, cutting short a speech by Milo Yiannopoulos, some faculty members downplayed the violence. The city’s mayor questioned Yiannopoulos’s free speech rights. Some celebrities openly supported the violence.

They’re learning the ways of the muslim.
The weakling Left loves violence. They’re just not very good at it.
That’s what they look to Islam and to inflaming old obsolete race hatreds for.
Once the Left gets the power of The State behind them, the violence really begins, and always “progresses” to organized murder.
Death camps and pogroms. Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro.
The Left must be eradicated. Everywhere and in every form.

The left perceives that they are losing, and in many areas they are. Donald Trump is only the most visible of their losses; the left is losing Congress, state houses and local governments. In the 2016 elections, the left promoted their ideology up front and center, as opposed to their normal tactic of just lying about what they are about, and lost.
The left’s apparent concern about the United States turning into a Christian theocracy or citizens being sent to gulags for various and sundry reasons is just a smokescreen for the fact that the left cannot face the fact that their ideology is being rejected. Virtually every leftist I know has an unshakable belief in their own intellectual and moral superiority, and a repudiation of their world view is a repudiation of them personally.
So yes, many leftists turn to violence because they are losing in the court of public opinion. They have no answers, so they must prevent the questions by any means possible. Leftists do not want to analyze why they are losing; they just want to win.
Lefties have always accepted violence as a means to get their way, nothing has recently changed. The left has always been xenophobic, misogynistic, racist, fascist, etc. In their heads they’re always right, even if it means being violent, it’s for a good cause and others must accept it.
Show me one good liberal.

They believe Christians, Republicans in general and any who openly advocate for a return to upholding written law are “anti-progressive”. For the progressive, being “anti progressive” is the same as being too stupid and backward to make wise decisions.
Because the progressive forces are actually losing adherents, they are grasping and fighting for their beliefs. If they lose, they lose everything they believe in. And what they believe in has become their religion – they BELIEVE they are right and everyone opposed is misguided (needing reeducation), wrong (needing more reeducation) or evil (needing eradication).
With this progressive religion, and a lack of clear Christian morals, they feel quite justified in using any means necessary, including violence.
It seems to me that they are suffering from a severe lead deficiency. Injections directly into the head should cure them.

You made up the rules. I pointed out that “Heads I win, tails you lose. Are you sure that’s what you want to play?” Enraged, you pulled a gun on me, and insisted I “Ante up!” Who am I to argue?
Like all spoiled brats who don’t get their way, they get violent. They’ll stay that way until somebody busts some heads.
Whether it be rioting, looting or violent demonstrations, Law enforcement rarely enforce the laws, when they do the social justice judiciary do not fine or incarcerate the offenders.
What deterrent is there to not repeat their actions elsewhere?
When your primary source of reason is emotions you are more prone to irrational behavior.
I don’t believe most of these leftists engaging in violence ‘Think’. They’ve been programmed through liberal education and Hollywood along with the media to believe and recite back these irrational fears. They enjoy the violence. They are intolerant and unknowingly they are the uneducated ones unable to critically think or argue substance. They are threatened by people that can articulate a vision that represents freedom and translates into individual responsibility. They need to face consequences for their actions or they will just continue to escalate their violence.
I never thought they would give up any of their power peacefully.

The underlying collectivist sociopolitical philosophy requires that individuals be forced to conform to the theoretical ideal for their perceived group. This means that using force to achieve collectivist ends is inherent, it is built-in to their world view.
As Uncle Al says, socialism always requires force. People don’t like their property, crops, or gold teeth taken away; or their wife and daughter raped in front of them by government goons. So the left must concentrate force in the hands of the government. Sociopaths are both naturally drawn to, and most adept at using, brutality. Socialism by it’s very design makes criminals the government.
They’re being taught this crap by academia. That’s the swamp that really needs to be drained.
They miss read the tea leaves. They though Obama winning twice meant the nation was ready to become socialist. The actual meaning was America is still racist, in an affirmative action/ soft bigotry of low expectations (If Obama was white in 2012 he would have gone the same way as Carter did in 1980).
Their revolution just got pushed back by 20 or more years and their student loans are coming due now. And now they may actually have to work for a living.
That’s your explanation for the violence.
If Breyer and Ginsburg can manage to die in their sleep with a pillow on their face their Revolution will be put back indefinitely. As for me I’m going to keep praying that day will come soon.
the left watched on the news about the Arabia spring and thought-gee, that looks like fun and we can disrupt the government here as well- Here in America the 1st amendment is way out of control and should be banned for a period of time- any unlawful assembly or riot should be met with swift retaliation- curfews? I got nothing to do after 5pm so I’m cool. Start kicking azz and take names later.
