Right Girl: A $100 million search for intelligent aliens has come up with some intriguing leads but has revealed no evidence of E.T. so far.
Observations of nearly 700 stars by the Green Bank Telescope (GBT) in West Virginia revealed no compelling signs of alien civilizations, representatives of the Breakthrough Listen project, which led the observations for the E.T. search, announced April 20.
Team members also unveiled the GBT’s 11 “most significant” observed events but stressed that these hits were probably caused by human technology. [13 Ways to Hunt Intelligent Aliens]
“We were able to determine that they were most likely due to radio frequency interference,” Andrew Siemion, director of the University of California, Berkeley’s SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Research Center, said Thursday during a presentation at the Breakthrough Discuss conference. read more
The dumbest thing we can do as a worldwide population is try to reach out to another more advanced civilization or being. We should do everything we can to hide from them. As dumb as we are we wouldn’t stand a chance against them.
how about we seek intelligent life on this planet, first?
It’s because the morons didn’t use the LGBT scope in Commiefornia.
Aliens are warned not to come to Earth because it’s considered the ‘Compton’ of the galaxy.
I see that Maxine resembles ET quite a lot. But ET is smarter and cuter, Maxine is neither.
It would be funny to make contact with an alien civilization and find out from them once they cured the mental disease of their version of liberalism, their world survived and flourished.
Waste of time. If it wasn’t on the ark it didn’t exist.
I’m right here you fools.
With all that we know, we know next to nothing. The monsters are here and they walk among us.
Humans haven’t changed at all in 7 thousand years, the only thing that has are our tools and methods of destruction.
The more they look, the less they will find.
If you’ve never been to Green Bank, you’ve never been to the middle of nowhere. Lovely area.
We shud bees lookin for red-tailed squrils and colorful bunnies.
Intelligent aliens! that’s a oxy-moron!
Any advanced civilization out there is smart enough to not want anything to do with us.
Can it spot illegal aliens?
I suspect that with the sheer numbers of habitable planets involved in all the galaxies there’s probably lots of intelligent life out there. The problems are distance and communication levels. It’s pretty ludicrous for us to think that all forms of life will use radio/tv and it’s associated frequencies to communicate. For all we know their communications are in bands or methods we have yet to discover. Even if ET first used radio signals they may have passed us by hundreds or thousands of years ago while they went on to the next step which we can’t detect. Nope, I’ll go by the odds and say that before mankind dies out we will have found (or been found by) another race but whether that turns out wonderful or destructive will probably depend on God.
When cultures collide, the weaker dissolves.
Doesn’t have to be any harm intended – that’s just the way it is.
izlamo delenda est …
Picture looks more like a sandworm from Dune than E.T.
I used to work there.
