Every contentious issue boils down to: what is life, what is life worth living, & what is life worth fighting for.
Slavery: they aren’t an equivalent life, therefore cheap labor.
Abortion: they aren’t a life.
Euthanasia: they aren’t a life worth living.
Illegal immigration: they aren’t an equivalent life (citizen), therefore cheap labor.
Notice how I’ve classified slavery and illegal immigration as the same.
If you took all of the 1800s arguments about slavery and changed the proper nouns and a few adjectives then they are the same discussions we are having now.
