White House wanted to release asylum-seekers into sanctuary cities

The Trump administration proposed releasing immigrant detainees onto the streets of “sanctuary cities” — including San Francisco —  on at least two occasions within the past six months as retribution against the president’s political enemies, The Washington Post reported, citing unnamed Department of Homeland Security officials and emails.

The proposal was first floated in November amid reports of a large migrant caravan from Central America making its way to the southern border.  The other time it was considered — in February — occurred during a standoff between Trump and Democrats over border wall funding.

It was rejected both times by immigration agencies, the report said.  A Nov. 16 email from the White House to officials at several agencies reportedly asked whether migrants could be arrested and bused to “small-and mid-sized sanctuary cities” and other Democratic strongholds.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s district in San Francisco was considered one of the areas targeted, according to the paper. Pelosi blasted the plan Thursday, calling it “despicable” to use “human beings — including little children — as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants.”

What is Pelosi’s beef?  Releasing detainees into sanctuary cities is the opposite of fear-mongering.  Won’t the detainees be safer there than they would be in a city without sanctuary protections?  more here

  1. They should be welcome there, otherwise they wouldn’t be called sanctuary cities, so he should do so with the only stipulation being that they must remain there or face immediate deportation if they are found anywhere else.

  10. A moronic suggestion that only an irresponsible, pathetic idiot would make. President Trump has the legal power to order laws be enforced, but he is not doing it. The illegals should be sent to the Rex84 internment camps and held there for deportation, or for for life. Trump keeps proving he is not in a controlling position, so all he can do is make joking threats that won’t accomplish law and order. It is apparent that even if Trump did give a legal order, not one of his advisers or military commanders would carry it out. Illegals are continually being transported to and deposited in cities all over the country where they will have to be welfared with all the care that needy Americans cannot get. Making jokes instead of carrying out laws already in place is pure mockery with Trump thumbing his nose not only at Dem Commies, but at all those who believed his promises that he is not keeping. Trump could at least admit and apologize for his inability to carry out his duties. Thus far Trump has only been an egotistical performer with a smile and a twitter of no value. And has been more then an eager beaver to bow to Israel’s demands, but not to our expectations.

You can’t deny that every time Trump tries to take even the most logical of actions the libs get some two bit judge from some shithole jurisdiction to stop it.   19. To all critics, do a little more analysis of the subject.

    As the article below states, Trump is already dispersing these sick and criminal illegals into cities where even his own supporting voters live. I live in a sanctuary state, but I don’t like the way it has become. I don’t want it worse because President Trump is not willing, or not allowed, to use the law to deal with the masses of illegals. Would you like to have thousands of illegals dumped into your neighborhood just to have a good laugh because Pelosi was just a joke to Trump, but he means to do it?

  20. tRuth, speaking of “do a little more analysis of the subject”. No matter what Trump does you know a shithole judge is going to make another bleeding heart liberal decision against him. This is a great opportunity to make a crystal clear example of how the elites are trying to force us to live the way they want us to live, but we don’t want this in our back yard.
