Who dis? I did watch some of the video but didn’t see a reason why I should care who dis is. Is there some historical significance to the white-haired guy with no more than modest talent in evidence?
Trevor Horn is more talented behind the scenes as a producer, engineer, and songwriter- (Owner of a Lonely Heart, Buffalo Gals, Slave to the Rhythm, Kiss From a Rose) than a performer. But he will always be known as the writer/performer of the first video ever aired on MTV.

@BFH — Thanks for the info. Now it makes sense. I’ve never heard of him but that’s entirely a reflection on me.

BTW, I did watch MTV in its early days, but the only videos I still remember today are Dire Straits “Money for Nothing” and the Michael Jackson one where he moon walks. Oh, yeah, and Weird Al’s “Eye of the Tiger”.

Great song and first song to be played on MTV. He’s an awesome talent. Owner of a lonely heart is a crazy good song too.
He was very easy to work with behind-the-scenes apparently.

That was totally fun. The song and the crowd.
1979. The year I graduated high school.

WHY?
Glenn Beck. Easy.
Exactly who I guessed based on the picture. Glasses and ‘fro gave it away.
A fond “I remember when and was there” moment. MTV was great in the beginning. I was glued to the tv set, on the first day when they flipped the switch at a local network and aired MTV.
I watched, the “Video Killed the Radio Star” video and loved it. Being part of the Ed Sullivan generation, MTV music videos were a next level way to enjoy my favorite singers, bands, etc.
