WikiLeaks Releases More Than Half A Million US Diplomatic Cables

DailyCaller: WikiLeaks released Monday more than half a million U.S. diplomatic cables from the year 1979.

“If any year could be said to be the ‘year zero’ of our modern era, 1979 is it,” WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said in a press release.

“In the Middle East, the Iranian revolution, the Saudi Islamic uprising and the Egypt-Israel Camp David Accords led not only to the present regional power dynamic but decisively changed the relationship between oil, militant Islam and the world,” Assange added.

  1. I can think of all sorts of uses for this. For example, maybe some of the information will tell us what our government is doing to get our hostages back from Iran, or reveal whether or not the CIA thinks the Soviet Union intends to invade Afghanistan. Yessiree, this could be a real gold mine here…

  2. Gov had already released 1979 Diplomatic cables in August. They are on archive .org. However, there are numerous checksum errors, which may mean nothing. It will be interesting to compare what is in the released archive and and what Wiki released.
