They’ve got it backwards. They want to make God in their own image.
Women priests in the Church of England want to start referring to God as “She” in prayers, hymns, and church services.
They say that, by continually calling God a “He,” they are reinforcing the idea that men are more godlike than women.
Hey, if the halo fits…
“When we use only male language for God we reinforce the idea that God is like a man and, in doing so, suggest that men are therefore more like God than women,” said the Rev. Emma Percy, chaplain of Trinity College, Oxford. more
But He self identifies as male. Stop the microagression before he smites thee.
I want English women to quit being so stupid.
It wouldn’t hurt these heathens to actually READ the bible.
Next? The return of the Babylonian Temple Whores?
(Actually, I could be down with that~)
From the Sublime to the ridiculous. Gives “religious freedom” a whole different perspective doesn’t it?
As foolish as “Gay” churches. Have you read Romans 1?
We have a local “humanist” synagogue, which is open to everyone, including LGBTQRSTWXYZ people. I understand they try not to mention G-d too much because they don’t want to offend anyone. It boggles the mind.
If God was a woman, don’t you think a man’s dick would have been on his chin?
The C of E has been on a downward spiral for quite some time and it won’t be long before it’s completely irrelevant to most people. The Catholic church, while not as blatant is experiencing the same thing and as a result the population as a whole is probably growing up with a less defined morality which is not serving them well.
Might be time to saddle up those four horses.
“Women Priests”
I think I’ve figured out the problem …
“… is like a dog’s walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all.”
God help us.
I hope that the CofE laity starts calling their women priests Darlin’ and Sugar Tits.
I hate to even THINK of an all-powerful Creator with PMS.
There is a feminine side to God, he can be a mother to the motherless. He can be the father to the fatherless. He is all we need. His Spirit is the comforter.
Calling him Father is correct because it’s what is done in the bible but also because the title infers authority, responsibility, title, authorship, ownership and power.
You can’t call God mother or she or her, because that would imply that God does not have all authority.
If there is a mother, then there must be a father, and the father would inherently have more authority. That is where you would get in trouble, because that can’t be.
God must be a he, and he must be ‘Father.’
According to the “Nag Hammadi”, (books that were edited out of the bible by the first ecumenical council in 325AD), God is male. He actually has a wife known as “Sophia”, (from Greek for Knowledge). The story goes that while God created man and gave life to the physical world, it was Sophia that graced us with intelligence. As an analogy, consider that Charles Babbage invented the computer back in the mid 1800s, and it was Ada Lovelace who wrote the first piece of software to make it calculate the Fibonacci sequence around the same time. When Babbage’s “Difference Engine” was finally built in the 1991, Ada’s software ran flawlessly on it.
@Stoobie – I get it. It’s called “dualism” and it’s hard to argue with on an intellectual basis. On a faith basis, if I were you, I’d duck.
A female “god” or demon, works only in the Church of Wicca, and not in the Church of The True and Living God who identifies Himself as Father.
Mark 14:35 NIV
…He(Jesus) fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36 “Abba,[f] Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
