Hennessey and Bugatti are the Hatfield and McCoys of car building.
Wired- The Hennessey Venom GT has set a speed record for a production car after hitting 270.49 mph on the space shuttle’s landing strip. At that speed, former race driver Brian Smith was covering nearly 400 feet per second while eclipsing the previous record of 268.86 mph held by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
John Hennessey is a Texas boutique builder who believes that if more is better, too much is almost enough. The superlative Venom GT is a 1,244-horsepower monster fashioned by stretching a Lotus Exige, then stuffing it with a 7.0-liter Corvette ZR-1 engine with a pair of turbochargers. For those looking to own this kind of insanity, a Venom GT starts at $1.2 million. That price is a bargain compared to Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, the other supercar in the ongoing race for the top speed record. Hennessey and Bugatti have been competing for years, with bragging rights going back and forth between their headquarters in Houston and Alsace, France. more
Imported from Texas. Screw Lincoln. Let’s see native son Matthew McConaughey drive it around and roll a booger in his fingers.
Mrs. Curtain was watching the commercial that opens with McConaughey sitting in a cafe alone with the Lincoln parked outside. She said, “What’s going on in this one? He and the car aren’t speaking?”
My VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI has a coefficient of drag of about 0.33 and given its weight and surface area, I do believe that it could achieve a higher speed.
Dropped from a cargo plane and traveling straight down at terminal velocity. (-:
Back in the day my AMC Hornet was pretty fast. Just Sayin.
Old man, was it three on the tree? I put one of those on its side in a South Carolina ditch back in 77. I didn’t hit the dog, though.
270.49 miles per hour.
The only thing faster than that is a lie coming out of obutthole’s mouth.
@unneutral – You said it! Barky’s lies travel at the speed of dark.
@unneutral
…or a cock going in.
And yet when you go to get your vehicle title.. it’ll be listed as a Lotus.. as in Norfolk, England.. where most of the parts are made..
After writing about my AMC Hornet 1970 six automatic (piece of junk)
I heard a strange muffled boom outside my house.
About 2000 ft from my house was my neighbors dairy barn. I huge fricken structure. Just fell down under the weight of 6 feet of snow.
He said he could hear the wood creaking earlier and had spent the last hours getting 200+ cows outside.
So now what’s he do. I told him maybe milk under a big tent. I guess the milking parlor is still useable the ceiling is just lower.
Sorry for the spelling errors.
I didn’t get past “space shuttle’s landing strip”. It reminded me we have no use for it now that NASA is a muslim outreach center and global warming proving grounds mouth piece.
Yeah, losing NASA pissed me off that much. We used to be explores and risk takers, now we are scared that 1.6 degrees in a century will destroy the planet. Progs suck and are the reason we can’t have anything fun.
Now imagine having 10000 hp and going from 0 to 315 mph in about 3.9 seconds in a top fuel nitro burning dragster and then pull the chute to slow you down even faster. Tell you one thing, the dragster is easier to keep straight at speed than that short wheel based Venom.
Glock, yea I’m a quarter mile guy. Got to be some pretty tall gears in this Eurotrah curr.
