Yellow Vests Break Toll Booths Across France

DC:

Roads and highways across France experienced more chaos from the “yellow vest” protests Tuesday after protesters began occupying and destroying dozens of toll booths, Reuters reports.

Protests affected roughly 40 toll sites run by Vinci Autoroutes, the largest toll road operator in France. Several highways and toll booths suffered heavy damage.

“Motorists should take utmost care as they approach toll gates and motorway access ramps due to the presence of numerous pedestrians,” Vinci Autoroutes said in a statement, according to Reuters.

  1. I read that the hated, ubiquitous French traffic cameras are being disabled and destroyed at a high rate by the Yellow Vests. The French government likes to say that most French people pay no income tax. But these same French people are mostly underemployed or unemployed. With the traffic cam fines, the French government thought it had found a way to gouge the “untaxed” French people. Next thing you know, they’ll be dumping tea in the Seine.
