‘YOU COMPLETELY DISREGARDED US’: NATIVE ALASKAN CRITICIZES DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKER OVER CLOSING ANWR

“[Huffman’s bill] is a continuation of the pattern of injustice we have experienced since the formation of ANWR,” Rexford said in his opening testimony, referencing federal regulations that have prevented Kaktovikmiut people from using and accessing surrounding lands. “You say you are concerned about Arctic culture. You’ve ignored our culture. You completely disregarded us.”   STORY

  1. I agree with Matthew Rexford. Once a plot of land is designated a wildlife refuge it’s hands and feet off. Unless you have four feet. Plus, I spent 12 years up there, as far as I’m concerned there is no better place for an oilfield in the country. For three of the years I was up there we drilled on leases that bordered ANWR. A couple other buddies of mine were on an island just offshore of ANWR. This was 77-81. There is producible oil and gas there, maybe a lot. The morons that are stopping us from even looking have no business making policy.

  2. Note to Tim Pearce: Inupiat are Native Alaskans, not Native Americans.

And yeah, interference from other states is nothing new to Alaska; Washington State tried to interfere with us even becoming a state, but fortunately our lawmakers and leaders saw through that sh**. Too bad we now have moronic Democrats like Lisa Murkowski.

By the way, today’s the 55th anniversary of the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake.

  3. Had a stop in Anchorage for two months (Nov-Dec) at the downtown Holiday Inn with a show band in the early 70s. Saw a lot and played one night in Fairbanks after Anchorage volunteers drove us to Fairbanks through ice, snow and past snow-bowed, massive Sitka Spruce and whistle stops with books, table games and friendly Alaskans. It was like a Winter Dream World everywhere!

Saw the Northern lights standing in pitch blackness before they cranked up the generators at the Fairbanks hall. Met a lot of gracious people there. Never will forget it and the people I soon became friends with. I wanted to climb Mt. McKinley (Denali) but never got the chance. Cinn. was our next stop. Wee-uns in the lower 48 (except for maybe a handful, few) will always love you, Alaska.

  4. ‘YOU COMPLETELY DISREGARDED US’

That has and will be the said of the socialist democrats and RINOs.

Like when they disregarded the will of the people when they passed obamacare, then wouldn’t repeal it, regarding abortion, immigration, the wall, tax relief, business regulations, national debt, etc.,etc.

When you are the establishment elite, you don’t need to take into account the will of the people, just listen to environmental special interest groups who donate large sums of money to your campaign and the corrupt DNC.

  5. In this day of electronic communications, maybe its time we get to electronically vote on bills. You know so we get actual representation by our own direction and ideas. We could save lots of money by not having a so called “Representative” accidentally mis-represent us. That would go over like a lead balloon because they know whats best for us after elected and a meeting with the other side.

  6. I loath Lisa Murkowski ever since she promised to abide by the results of the primary. She lost to a Tea Party guy, then ran a write-in campaign and won. I don’t use the word bi*ch much, but if anyone is one, she is.
