  1. We saw the Air Force Academy band a few years ago. Mostly, they were wearing mess dress uniforms with the conductor wearing full formal tails uniform.
They then broke into a group doing a tribute to Glenn Miller where they were wearing WWII Army Air Corps uniforms. One of the white Sargent s got out his handkerchief and trumpet 🎺 and did a spot on Louis Sachmo Armstrong.

  2. I was an Army recruiter in the San Francisco are 40+ years ago. You wouldn’t believe the screen process, audition tapes, and live auditions these folks go through. I put a cello player in the Presidio band. I tried talking him into airborne infantry (11B2P) in the 82nd……no dice.

Oh well, helped me get my quota for the month.

  3. I had a friend (seems like l have many that recently have passed away). He was the head of The navy’s 7th fleet band based in Naples Italy. Mark was a great trumpet player and a great singer. He may ride a Brit chick
That I just adore. I used to tease him between songs, hollering “DEVO”.

    We had a great interaction.

Man. The great people we’ve lost this year.

    I’ve got a heavy heart.
