L.A. City Council Member Mike Bonin Proposes Homeless Shelters on Local Beaches

BREITBART

Los Angeles City Council member Mike Bonin has proposed sheltering the city’s growing homeless populations in facilities at local beaches on the Pacific Ocean, provoking the ire of local residents who rely on the beaches for recreation.

Touting what he calls an “everything in” approach to homelessness, Bonin posted his plan last week, which includes a motion to study  a “temporary site for single-occupancy tiny homes or safe camping at the county-owned parking lot at Will Rogers State Beach” in Pacific Palisades; similar sites at Dockweiler Beach in Playa Del Rey and Fisheran’s Village in Marina Del Rey; and a “temporary site specifically for RV safe parking at the county-owned parking lot” at Dockweiler.

Bonin includes suggestions for several additional sites on the west side of Los Angeles. His motion does not address the environmental impact of homeless encampments on public beaches, including sewage, drug use, crime, or other problems. read more

  1. I think most of these proposed beach areas are near progressive enclaves, so I’m o.k. with it. It won’t be temporary – because no government program is ever temporary – but if the progs are o.k. with an out of control homeless problem, then let that problem be in their own back yard.

  2. …and because homeless people are all good and wise and noble and not homeless because of insanity at all, the encampments were all perfectly self-governing and had no violence, sexual assault, child abuse, or medical problems at all, so they just existed in perfect harmony with nature and each other, needing NO further services from the city, and became a shining example of perfect collectivism to us all…/s

  3. ..actually, I’m kind of in FAVOR of giving the homeless Cali beaches to live on.

Start with Malibu, and tell them anywhere they see a “PRIVATE BEACH” sign is fair game.

    …sauce for the goose…

  4. kt raises a great point: Anything goes for as many ILLEGALS as can come across our border, but can’t do more for the HOMELESS?

The Biden priorities are clear..citizens don’t matter.

  5. All homeless people from across the US should be permanently moved to California and denied the opportunity to leave unless it is to relocate to Mexico! Change the racist name of California to the ‘Homeless State”!

  6. A Karen quoted from the NextDoor website, quoted in the linked article, “I don’t understand why they are trashing our city’s infrastructure and the lives of tax paying citizens?! Bonins proposal sounds so crazy and ridiculous! There is a lot of cheap empty land just outside of LA where tiny homes and homeless communities can be concentrated and all the needed help centralized and provided. It’s cheaper, less controversial and gives them a goal to return to the community once cleaned up and able and willing to live a normal life”.

As a person who lives outside of LA in one of these ‘cheaper, less controversial’ areas deemed by the NextDoor Karen to be a place to dump LA’s homeless problem: Fuck that. I don’t think the vagrants should be housed at the beaches, but don’t send them to other cities to deal with, either. Not my circus, not my monkeys.
