2 dead in murder-suicide at UCLA campus

NYP: A murder-suicide on UCLA’s campus left two men dead Wednesday, according to Los Angeles police.

Police recovered a handgun and a note next to the lifeless bodies of the two men outside a small office in the engineering building.

“There is evidence that it could be a suicide note,” LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said before declaring the campus “safe.”

Hundreds of police responded within minutes of a 911 call made at 9:55 a.m. local time about an active shooter near the engineering building, Boelter Hall.

The school was immediately placed on lockdown and students on campus were asked to shelter in place. MORE

  1. That’s right, Left Coast Dan. And if you just pick up the phone and dial 911, hundreds of cops will show up and save you just like they saved … , oh, nevermind.

    🙂

  2. News flash, you remember the active shooter in Houston last week? It was a CCW that stopped him long enough for swat to get him. What? You didn’t read or hear that from the media. Go figure.

  3. The crime was probably committed by a student against a teacher who invaded his or her safe space by triggering a micro-agression related to a grade given that wasn’t in line with cultural Marxism.

  4. The LA Times has a huge puff piece on the victim, several paragraphs on his hobbies and his family. No description whatsoever of the shooter. There was a “note” left at the scene also but no mention of what it says. Good journalism there.

  5. The Plot Thickens:

“Police found a “kill list” at the Minnesota home of the gunman who opened fire at UCLA on Wednesday, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck told CNN affiliate KTLA. The name of the UCLA professor killed by the gunman was on the list, as was the name of another woman who police later found dead, Beck said.

“We did a follow-up investigation to that female’s residence in a nearby town in Minnesota and found her deceased by gunshot wound,” Beck said.

The police chief said “a dispute over intellectual property” was tied to the UCLA shooting.

Gunman Mainak Sarkar felt the professor he killed had released information “that harmed him,” Beck said. “UCLA says this is absolutely not true. This is the workings of his imagination,” the police chief said.”
