2 More EU Aluminum Smelters Going Offline Due to Excessive Energy Costs, Aluminum Shortages Predicted

CTH: On one hand losing the ability to manufacture aluminum is bad news for any economic activity that requires the use of aluminum. However, on the other hand, this politically guided ‘new world’ we are going toward doesn’t need aluminum, because you cannot eat it.

Predictably 2023 is going to be the beginning of several ‘Build Back Better’ decades where the ownership of material things disappears.  When your wages are focused on sustaining yourself with housing, food and energy, all of those other purchases become mere indulgences.

Sustainable life in equity with the needs of the planet, means returning to the era when you received an orange or a piece of chocolate as a Christmas gift, and you are thankful. Cars, appliances, phones or other types of luxury durable goods are indulgences which become out of reach for the worker class.  Thus, removing smelters, iron works, factories and other heavy industrial machines only makes sense. more

  1. Ahh, I burn through one hell of a lot of aluminum, 6061 t6, 2024 t351 and t851, 7075 t651 and t751. Our suppliers tell us demand is dropping like a rock. If there were a market the mills would simply pass the increase on to the end user like they have historically done since the beginning of aluminum.
We’re rather insulated, for now. Defense is still cooking, a little bit of Semi Conductor but here’s what’s killing the market. It’s the Halfrican part 2. The Federal Government has once again destroyed non discretionary spending for families. No money for toys. When the Obamanation did this the first time around he put just about ever boat, trailer, and RV manufacturer out of business. And they’re doing it again. Stupid asses. Stolen elections have consequences.

    Q. What happens when you eat aluminum?
    A. You sheet metal.

  3. If I only had a brain but it was “stolen” & alas now I have none.
Republicans only agenda is to cut Social Security, Medicare, Obamacare, food stamps, and voting rights. They have no other agenda besides spreading hate, division and concocting another insurrection to destroy the Constitution.

  4. Let\’s use terms as they are normally defined. According to Merriam-Webster, fascism is \”a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.\” Fascism regimes heavily regulate and control industry and commerce, whereas socialism promotes the collective ownership of industry and commerce. However, in practice it is government that \”collectively owns\” industry and commerce so that in discussing fascism and socialism, as a practical matter there is a theoretical distinction without really any difference. Both systems require totalitarian regimes and are usually brutally and ruthlessly enforced.

What the world is moving towards is fascism, and what our Democrats promote is fascism and not really socialism. California is not promoting collective ownership of transportation; it is using fascism to regulate internal combustion vehicles out of existence. People may hate Donald Trump and he does have a lot of faults, but he is not a fascist. Obama, and later Biden, do exhibit the characteristics and tendencies of fascist leaders. Biden\’s last speech in Philadelphia wherein he promoted racism and political division and governmental control and suppression of opposition was about as fascist a speech as there is.

It seems most progressives, including the trolls on this site, have no idea what fascism is. Our media covers extremists who call themselves anti-fascists as revolutionaries, when in reality they are almost identical to Hitler\’s brownshirts as a \”policy enforcement tool.\” Progressives promote racism, class divisions, forcible suppression of opposition (e.g. \”cancel culture\”) and total government control, and then claim they are not fascists although they follow fascist principles. More and more, Progressives do not care about individual rights and prefer to grant rights and preferences to groups.

So where do we go from here? For starters, we should return to the principle that words have meaning, and enforce that concept. Riots where people are injured or killed and property destroyed are not \”peaceful protests.\” The folks who call themselves anti-fascists are, by definition, fascists. Biden does nothing to unite anyone, and in fact has taken steps to further divide America. Abortion is not health care; it is the termination of the life of a fetus and overwhelmingly used as birth control.

Secondly, we need to educate citizens about the Constitution, which sets out a framework that made this the greatest nation in history. For example, in overturning Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court did not outlaw abortion – it determined that this was an issue left to the individual states which, incidentally, Justice Ginsberg tended to agree with. The First and Second Amendments in particular are concisely and clearly worded, and they are designed to prevent, or at least impede the type of totalitarian regime Democrats want. When political or media clowns make claims that the Constitution either permits or prohibits something it does not permit or prohibit, they need to be called out.

Finally, we need to reinforce the concept that fascism, socialism and communism do not work and have never worked. These are economic systems largely built on lies, which rely on the existence of an imaginary \”elite class\” of rulers, and which ignore basic human characteristics.

I could go on, but this rant is long enough and an entire book could be written on the subject. In fact, one has – I would recommend Orwell\’s \”1984\” as a start.

  5. Anonymous, you can come out of Mom’s basement; you just need to worry about the monkeypox now.
It’s clear to anyone with a brain that FJB and his merry band of Molech need no help from republicans to fuck things up.
Let’s face it, his PAL and mentor Barry said it himself.
