Court-watchers are working themselves into a frenzy awaiting a decision on King v. Burwell, one of the most-anticipated cases of the year.
On opinion days, dozens of reporters are packing into the court or swarming the steps outside, while nearly 10,000 people tune into SCOTUSblog for live updates. False reports attempting to predict the timing of the decision have only further fueled the hype.

Across Capitol Hill, Republicans in the House and Senate briefed their members for the first time on Wednesday, trying to calm fears about what could happen to the 6.4 million people whose ObamaCare subsidies are at stake in the case.

Some of K Street’s biggest lobby firms are drafting “pre-decision” memos and briefing clients even outside of the healthcare realm about how they could be hit by a ruling.

Democrats are also getting nervous.   MORE

  1. This is why I stopped watching tv. Years ago I was one of these people who cared. Now I just don’t give a shit. I’ll find out in do time. My blood pressure is closer to normal.

  2. We are fucked either way. DC will continue to slash and burn and when the lights go on they will blame the American people for being (fill in the blank). The American people will react by saying “We’re sorry DC, how could we have been so (fill in the blank). To quote JS: “Now I just don’t give a shit”.

  3. No decision today on either BarkyCare or homomarriage.

It may not seem like a big deal, but Los Supremos did declare that the DeptAg raisin price support program involved a constitutional “taking” and this could have major repercussions on lots of similar govt programs.

  4. On the one hand, the SCOTUS carefully measures the meaning of a words withing the context of the law, statute or Constitutional phrase. On the other hand, they ignore, pretend, read tea leaves and seemingly “channel” the ghost of The Founders to find some “right” or “intent” that cannot exist otherwise.

In this case, will they miss the clear meaning of a strong sentence, written in clear, concise English? Will Ginsburg fall asleep, face-down in her Cream-O-Wheat again?
