Daily Caller:
A civil servants union representing employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) objected to the suspension of VA employee Elizabeth Rivera after she was “arrested and incarcerated for felony armed robbery” and successfully convinced government officials to return her to work and pay her for 30 days she was confined to house arrest.
The union in a grievance pointed out the fact that Rivera’s boss had been arrested with drugs, and management hadn’t fired him. The boss, hospital CEO DeWayne Hamlin, “responded by threatening the union with filing charges against them if they continued to bring it [his arrest] up,” according to internal documents addressed to Hamlin and obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
The VA eventually tried to fire Hamlin for his handling of the Rivera incident, but that decision was also reversed after the VA concluded it would be blocked by the Merit Systems Protection Board, which provides an avenue for even top executives to file union-like protests in attempts to block discipline.
If you need any proof the government is infested with morons, here it is right in front of you!
absolutely insane!!
It’s the Colin Kaepernick defense:
“If you didn’t have the courage to suspend HIM at the time, you can’t do it to ME now.”
*An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
And that, children, is why the VA (and every other federal bureaucracy is so completely phuqued up.
two wrongs do not make a right. Get some union busting sob’s ion there ASAP. If you work for the government you already are receiving more pay and benefits than an employee of citizen owned businesses. You do not need a union to screw the taxpayer even more than you are. assholes
Unions in government. That’s the problem. Trump wouldn’t stand for this in one of his companies so there’s no reason to stand for it now. Continue to fill the the judgeships, the senior positions and well as SCOTUS when Ginzberg finally goes. Let the Dems continue to fight among themselves and with luck they’ll create an actual third party in time for 2020. Then get outthe pen and paper and ban unions from government service. Institute private industry bonus packages and some private industry senior managers. Let the appeals run through the conservative controlled courts and let the Federal government unions die on the steps of the SCOTUS. Then maybe people will care about their gubmint jobs as much as the private sector folks do.
Another example of why gummit unions should be outlawed.
Couldn’t stomach the entire DC article. I thought this had a whif of familiarity, & sure enough Puerto Rico. This info has been out there for a few years, yet the congressional hearings on poor, poor PR, treated like the red headed stepchild after Irma by Trumps admin w NO mention of the corruption from every offsite agency conveniently goes unmentioned.
PR is simply a welfare state, rife w corrupt grifters. Paul Ryan generously bailed them out w our tax $$$ in a back room deal to the benefit of his wealthy donors, and the lack of gratitude in coming to the trough w their hands out post Irma is astounding.
I’d like the names of Congress on union payrolls who thought it a good idea to protect govt employees at all costs. I’d crawl to Arlington Cemetery to piss on their graves.
💝 MY FAVORITE PART 💝
After felony charges dropped, and serving house arrest for 30 days, she wears a GPS ankle monitor and is doing SECURITY.
“Sorry, I can’t pursue that guy more than 10′ from the building or I have to call my probation officer to get permission.”
Both of these losers will wind up running the place.
There should be no civil servants unions.
SOTU 1982. “… the gov’t IS the problem!”. true for 10,000 years. Will be true in 2020!
