(CNSNews.com) – A record 94,610,000 Americans were not in the American labor force last month — an increase of 579,000 from August — and the labor force participation rate reached its lowest point in 38 years, with 62.4 percent of the U.S. population either holding a job or actively seeking one.
In other disappointing news, the economy added only 142,000 jobs in September, well below economists’ expectations, but the unemployment rate remained at 5.1 percent, where it was in August.

The NYC metro area has had a number of bad recessions during the nearly 40 years I’ve been in the full-time workforce. Unfortunately, many of them coincided with a job search. Now, I experience a bad economy through my child – support clients in Family Court, who must submit full financial disclosure for a support order to be entered or modified. I know what high unemployment looks like, and trust me when I say this ain’t no 5.1%. It feels more like double digits to me.

I went Galt back in 2008, surprised even myself I lasted this long. But once HNIC came on the scene, I knew I couldn’t keep up with the 12-14 hour days, I didn’t earn that!

About a month or so ago Rush got some figures from a “real” economist, you know, one that deals with reality, and said the unemployment figures were closer to +/- 46%.
What is so scary is that the government potentates, drones, and miscreants are our friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens! Some elected by us into office but most of them being appointed or hired by those we elect into office. How do our fellow citizens go bad so fast? How do they become such polished and overt liars, cheats, and lazy cruds?

I lost my job right in the fall of 2008 and had to take a job outside my career field. Underemployed, for sure. I considered myself a victim of the economy, part of that percentage. But I was still bringing home the bacon and it worked out.
