Cage Match #9 The Association versus The Dave Clark Five
The Association
The Dave Clark Five
Wow, I haven’t thought of The Association in years. I really liked the song Windy when it came out in ’67. Thanks for the memory activation!
I heard most of these songs in the car on an AM radio with one speaker in the dash.
DC5 always sounded like the Fab Four +1 to me.
The Association
The Association – “Never My Love” one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. So beautiful – the lyrics, melodies, harmonies and talent.
I never was an Association fan since it became an earworm that was played too many times an hr. back in the day of AM Top 40. The Dave Clark 5 were an under rated band from the British invasion of rock and roll in the 60’s who deserved more airtime on the radio. The Association’s music wasn’t bad, the dj’s just played it to death to the point that it became annoying.
In the interest to consistence with my past comments, I have to go with the Dave Clark 5’s harmonies, but I enjoy the Association’s music.
Never My Love was played at a Jr. High dance contest I went to and a friend and our male classmate won. What you would get is a 45 record!
It was a snowball dance
I liked the Association as a kid. “Along Comes Mary” is an interesting song with an amazingly complex rhyme scheme. Check out its lyrics sometime
And Windy is simply an all time great song .. much underrated
It’s not a fair comparison. They’re 2 different genres.
