6 dead, 2 arrested after shooting at Quebec City mosque

Quebec provincial police say six people are dead and eight were wounded after shots were fired inside a mosque on Sunday night during evening prayers.

Both Candian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Quebec government have called the shooting an act of terrorism.

Quebec City Police Const. Étienne Doyon said mostly men were gathered inside the Islamic cultural centre of Quebec in the Sainte-Foy neighbourhood when the shooting began just before 8 p.m.

The president of the centre, Mohammed Yangui, said at least five people were killed, but that information has not been confirmed by police.  more

  5. So quick to call it terrorism, when attack is on Muslims.

    It’s a terror attack, when carried out on any group, in such a manner.

    It will be interesting to see what the ‘investigations’ bring out. Trudeau will wash out the witness reports: “”It seemed to me that they had a Québécois accent. They started to fire, and as they shot they yelled, ‘Allahu akbar!’

  12. I’m pretty sure we won’t get the full truth about this. One thing to watch though if this is white Quebeckers that did this it will stay in the news cycles for weeks and be used to try to tighten already incredibly strict gun control as well as reinforcing western guilt. I’m sorry that people died but it will be interesting to see how much information will be released.

  16. It appears for now that is a Muzzie on Muzzie assault if what some reports say that they shouted Allu Snackbar before firing.
    In a highly PC country like Canada, the term French Canadian means anyone who lives in Quebec.

  19. Still waiting to hear the names of the shooters involved they say have been caught. Based on past experience, the longer the media goes with out announcing the shooter’s names, the higher the probability the name ‘Mohammed’ is part of it somewhere.

  21. Blazing Cat Fur links to a Quebec radio station’s site. The write-up says one was Canadian and one was Arab. But doesn’t say if the “Canadian” was a Canadian Muslim. The fact that they won’t release their names makes my spider sense tingle.

    If they were two white guys, we’d know their names already.

    I see they can’t help themselves. Next attack will be here, and sooner than I thought.

  25. I just listened to a live press conference on the CBC website.
    A lot of bullshit…”waiting to get facts”…”investigation in progress”…etc.
    The usual weasel words and stalling tactics.
    They’re not telling us the facts, which I strongly suspect is a muzz on muzz attack.

  26. I. Love how they front load the story about this being a terrorist attack on a “specific community”, implying it was anti Islamic attack. They wait till the end of the story to tell you the witness accounts that say they yelled Allahu Akbar.

    Then follow that up with a pig head being left on the doorstep last year, again implying anti Islamic people are terrorizing this mosque.
