21 Comments on 80 Year-old Tom Jones Sings Amazing
80.
I wish someone could tell me how these Welsh people like Jones and Shirley Bassy have such powerful voices.
80 and still belting out like a damn train horn. While sitting down. Amazing people.

I’ve met exactly one (1) Welsh dude. Not a great voice, but it was loud and resonant.
It’s got to be a shared genetic deal, like bigger vocal chords or something. Shirley Bassy was (is?) so loud that when she sang in choir she wasn’t even in the same room as the rest of the group. She’d be out in the hall belting away.
Always been impressed by that, and Tom Jones. Flawless.

Thanks, Fur! ❤️
It’s been a very long time since I got up and danced like a fool.
Love Sir Tom.

Just think how much more famous he would be if his last name could rival Humperdinck….
But I meant she has a really powerful voice. Never noticed until recently but there’s never a microphone near her. Just figured she was lip syncing.
Turns out that’s her actual voice. Wow.

We use to kid around and have a friend put a through carpet piece on his chest and he would sing “It’s not unusual to be loved by anyone”! We would crack up and enjoy. Good times and memories!
God Bless us all!!

Oh no doubt she did have a powerful voice, but that Barney Fife was a virtuoso baritone! Only in Mayberry RFD could you find someone who could lip sync like that. Oh wait, he was lip syncing. Never mind.
The Welsh are renowned for their great singers. Has something to do with working down the coal mines. The running joke when I grew up in the 60’s, in England, was that everyone in Wales had the surname Jones.
In each Welsh village every Jones was identified by their occupation. So, there was Jones the butcher, Jones the baker, Jones the postman, Jones the Vicar, Jones the miner, Jones the smithy etc. Tom, of course, was known everywhere as Jones the voice!
True story. Saw him in concert, amazing voice. Never did throw my knickers on stage though.

Wow! Tom Jones is still kinda sexy at 80 and that voice is a gift from God – awesome.
Lulu (Scottish), Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones have always been, since I was a teenager in the early 70s, my absolute favorite singers from across the pond.

We used to watch Mission Impossible then Tom Jones evey Sat night.
He is still a great singer. No computer fixes either.
Most of today’s stars can’t sing.
Thanks for posting this. So fun.

John Rhys-Davies has a powerful voice, too – have no idea whether or not he can sing, though. The Welsh really do need to buy a few vowels.
Pretty sure all their names are anglicized.
“Owain ap Gruffydd, lord of Glyndyfrdwy” = Owen Glendower.

NICE!

We saw Tom Jones at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He’s the only one left standing that we have seen perform on stage. Etta James, John Lee Hooker, BB King, to name a few that we’ve seen perform and they’re dead now. The great ones are gone and very few remain. The music out nowadays is crap.

You mean like Barney Fife in the church choir?
