Matt Walsh Hits the Nail On the Head – IOTW Report

Matt Walsh Hits the Nail On the Head

In an article for The Blaze on the Bruce Jenner story, Matt Walsh sums up nicely what I, and my iOTWreport colleagues, have been saying for the better part of a decade.

Whenever anyone critiqued a post by saying “yawn,” “we have better things to talk about,” “how can you talk about x and y while z is going on,” I would wince, put a hole in the drywall, take a walk, a then come back with my forced smile.

People, there is no America if we lose the culture war.

It is that simple.

The Blaze- Matt Walsh

I’ll be told, especially by many conservatives, to leave this alone and find something more important to talk about. But millions and millions and millions of people — both in the media and outside of it — have said far more about this topic and demonstrated a much greater interest in it than I ever have, yet they’re never instructed to shut up and move on. While conservatives justify their miserable cowardice by insisting that it’s just an irrelevant sideshow and they’re simply too wrapped up in more serious matters to pay it any mind, you’ll notice that progressives treat “transgenderism” as one of the most important cultural frontiers.

Any time a transgender person uses the bathroom these days, progressives throw a parade like the the Allies just defeated Germany.

Bruce Jenner posing in women’s underpants was headline news across the country. The White House called it “brave” and “powerful.” The President of the United States of America, leader of the most powerful nation on Earth, came out publicly to hail Bruce’s “courage” for having fake breasts and waxed legs. It was the number one trending story on every social media platform. Bruce Jenner’s “female” alter ego got over a million Twitter followers in four hours.

Everyone is acting it like it’s a big deal. As long as they have the “correct” opinion, they’re allowed to.

And they’re right — it is a big deal.

This is a battle for reality, people. Get your heads in the game.

If progressives can wield the power to demolish and remake even the definition of “man” and “woman” in their ideological image, then they have achieved a total  and irreversible cultural victory. They have reached into the universe and reshaped reality itself. They have become gods, or at least that’s the kind of power we give them. You can blab on and on about economics and foreign policy, but if we live in a country where confusion, perversion, and self-worship reign supreme, what’s the point? America will already be dead.

  1. We (conservatives) have lost many battles in the culture war, a war that was being waged since before many of us were even born. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to realize that the media, entertainment industry, schools, and our government were dishing out a constant serving of leftist lies have at least been trying to gain ground. We have a long way to go. Most urban areas are lost… filled with mushy-brained automatons who eagerly spoon up the foul, leftist pabulum, and they aid in the constant onslaught against anyone with the temerity to not march lockstep with them. We’re being assailed on all fronts, and it’s difficult to concentrate on every single attack. Perhaps the responses of “yawn” or “so what?” are the result, but I agree, BFH, we need buckle down, even if it is tiresome. Some are more adept at fighting one particular battle than another, though, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but on the same token, it’s important to at least recognize which battles the left are waging.

  2. ok so this was going to be a rant but now that you brought it up:

Lets look at some famous Olympians:

Eric Henry Liddell (/ˈlɪdəl/; 16 January 1902 – 21 February 1945) was a Scottish athlete, rugby union international player, and missionary, who was forced to choose between his religious beliefs and competing in an Olympic race.

After refusing to run in the heats on a Sunday, for his favoured distance, men’s 100 metres, Liddell could still compete in the men’s 400 metres at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, which he won. He returned to China in 1925 to serve as a missionary teacher. Aside from two furloughs in Scotland, he remained in China until his 1945 death in a Japanese civilian internment camp.

Jesse Owens specialized in the sprints and the long jump and was recognized in his lifetime as “perhaps the greatest and most famous athlete in track and field history”.[2] His achievement of setting three world records and tying another in less than an hour at the 1935 Big Ten track meet has been called “the greatest 45 minutes ever in sport”[3] and has never been equaled. At the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany, Owens won international fame with four gold medals: 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, and 4×100 meter relay. He was the most successful athlete at the games and as such has been credited with “single-handedly crush[ing] Hitler’s myth of Aryan supremacy.”[4]

James Francis “Jim” Thorpe (Sac and Fox (Sauk): Wa-Tho-Huk, translated as “Bright Path”;[1] May 22, 1887 – March 28, 1953)[2] was a Sac and Fox athlete of Native American and European ancestry. Considered one of the most versatile athletes of modern sports, he won Olympic gold medals for the 1912 pentathlon and decathlon, played American football (collegiate and professional), and also played professional baseball and basketball.

Bob Beamon- Shortly after the Mexico City Olympics, Beamon was drafted by the Phoenix Suns basketball team.[10] In 1972 he graduated from Adelphi University with a degree in sociology [11]

Beamon has worked in a variety of roles to promote youth athleticism, including collaborations with former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Beamon’s work at the athletic programs of several universities. He is the former chief executive of the Art of the Olympians Museum AOTO in Florida.

    and

Bruce Jenner- married a kardashian and decided he wanted to become a woman… Really Bruce??

  3. Hubby has to manage twenty/thirty somethings and they are the most self aware arrogant group of people. A simple critique is an attack of their self worth and they whine to HR over any supposed slight. Companies (not just his) bend over backward to appease them.

These people are the future of America. They devour media and the left pretty much control what these people read, see and hear.

How about a righty TED talk? Has this ever happened? Bring “America” to them in a format that the knuckleheads can relate to?

Every movie from the 1980’s is being remade-with shiny graphics-and they think it’s better than the original whether it is or not.*

Same with tired politics from Europe. A cool poster, a hip logo and ya got Obama. How are they gonna sell Hillary or Bernie Sanders to these “kids”? Well, they have already been taught that (R) means reject.

How we make inroads to the pop culture I have no idea. It matters when Vince Vaughn comes out and endorses the 2nd Amendment like he did yesterday.

Our guys saying they will “fight” to “get our country back” is not going to win the millennials over AT ALL. Saying that in fact has lost me.

*this refers to the new Mad Max movie. God I hated that movie. Empty, empty empty void of…anything good.

  4. Not so fast. The circus still draws crowds who love laughing and gawking at freaks, clowns, and other unworldly performers. But the crowd leaves there to go back to the reality of nature and the universe as we know it. And the circus moves on. This is a circus no more more less. Jenner is being paraded about and exploited in the same manner the Elephant Man was. Sure, he is a willing participant, unlike, John Merrick, but the public knows a freak when they see one and will gawk until reality calls them home again.

  5. like andrew breitbart said, politics is downstream from culture.

jenner is not the problem. it is the rabid mob that plows down the thinking man. officious nazis hunting down anyone who disagrees.

truth is jenner is a one note bore. illustrated by his “can’t stop the music” crappola film. that film did give a glimpse of his future! he believes that one million twitter followers will fill the void in him.

    not gonna happen.

  6. My old granddaddy used to tell me, “Son, always pick your battles”.
I took that to mean that you should concentrate your energy on the fights that you actually had a chance of winning.

Wasn’t until years later I found out that he was
just trying to get me to stop picking my nose…

    : }

  7. I hate to tell HIM (Bruce) this, but if you have to go through breast augmentation to add boobs, and a ten hour long surgery to re-shape your face to appear feminine – then you weren’t “born that way”.

And today at the Target parking lot I see this dumpy car with some kind of “gays are terrific” type of bumper sticker. On the way back past it I noticed at the top of the back window was a different type of sticker. One of those stick-figure stickers, you know the kind, but this one was … of one man bent over, and another man behind with his johnson half inserted into the bent over stick-figure.

Gays sure are great, ain’t they?

  8. I just had this discussion in the office with a co-worker who asked if this wasn’t part of a greater deal of acceptance of those who are different. I said no, this is the lauding and support of mental illness instead of getting someone the help that they need.

Here is a perfect analogy. I have known several anorexic women. They all have a body-dysmorphic issue where the body they see and “feel” does not match reality. They honestly believe that they are fat, even as they get to the point where their organs begin shutting down and they are hospitalized to be force-fed to prevent their “self-image” killing them. (Visiting the anorexia ward at a hospital is a terrifying experience, especially once you start talking to the patients about how they see themselves.)

No one (except the fashion industry) would argue that these women were anything but mentally ill and in need of medical intervention to help them. Telling them that their delusion was “brave” and that they should “embrace the real them” would be akin to supporting assisted-suicide. And yet this is exactly what the supporters of Bruce Jenner are doing.

    Sick…it’s actually evil.

  9. Fur, I’m not one to say “Kim who?” or “Yawn” or “meh”. But if I try to combat this stuff every day I find I get enmeshed in it like Brer Rabbit and Tar Baby — and it depresses me. However, I do pray. A lot. And I have faith that God, in his wisdom, will set things arights even if it takes longer than my lifespan.

  10. Madjack –

    It’s not too late.
We don’t even know how many of us their are.
That’s what the left does, they silence lily-livered conservative cowards.
We have to be more vocal, encourage pop icons, even if you think they are lefties, when they say something even remotely conservative.

A Robert Downey Jr. can say something conservative and if I want to highlight it and praise it, we have readers who claim that we’re getting soft and we’re going lefty, and they say Downey was a druggy, and fuck him, etc….

    That’s not a winning strategy.

    You’re just silencing them.
Some people throw trial balloons out there and test the waters, and when they are slapped down, or mistreated, they just shut down.

Meanwhile, we praise a Greg Gutfeld.
    There, I said it.

Keep your eye on this guy.
    He is not a conservative.

  11. I don’t recall Matt mentioning what principle/philosophy it was that *we* (and who *we* includes) were all going to rally around in the course of saving the culture/country.

Humans cannot save themselves from themselves, I think that has been repeatedly demonstrated throughout history enough to be a pretty solid reality.

  12. Our culture is shrinking back and being intruded on by a bunch of Fruits, Flakes and Nuts that have been emboldened and empowered by the Fruit, Flake, and Nut in the White House. I think they are a small percentage of the population. If we get a conservative in the White House they will shrink back into the basements and closets where they belong.

Greg Gutfeld suffers from the smartest smart ass in the room syndrome. And one of these days that hair trigger mouth is going to say something that will cost him his job. And he could care less about being a conservative or liberal for that matter.

  13. With all the things going on in this world, from severe weather, wars, terrorists, and the, almost, total acceptance of our Nation being void of what it stood for when our Founding Fathers fought for our Freedom,…..
I just believe that God is in control and it will be by His Will when it all comes crashing down.
We’ve thumbed our noses at Him and said we don’t need Him, showed him we love this world and not Him.
This world deserves what it’s going to get.

  14. Also, I wonder how many wounded warriors are out there suffering through unimaginable hardships due to their sacrifice to the country and they’d never in a million years get a call or a tweet from the president.
Unless, of course, they are men who decide to pose in women’s underwear or proclaim that they like having sex with other men.

  15. Irony
From one of my favorite retired military instagram sites. I’m going to go find you another. I wish I could get the pic over.

“Watched the news today and all I saw was stories of some mentally deranged man (Bruce Jenner) who thinks he’s a woman. People were calling “it” a hero, saying that “it” is brave and is full of courage! Give me a fucking break. It has mental problems and should be treated accordingly. You want to know want most NORMAL people consider brave and courageous heroes? Look at the photo above.
Coming out in public and exposing how fucked up you are is not courageous, doesn’t make you a hero, nor do you face any danger…thus your move is not brave. With today’s fucked up society, you MR Jenner knew that they would eat this shit up and give you a ticker tape parade down Park Ave. If you really want to be brave, courageous or considered a hero… Why don’t you grab your balls (while you still have them), man up and do something normal people would consider an heroic act! The Marines above did that, yet no one knows their names… “

  16. Irony, in regards to your comment about wounded warriors and calls from the White House. This is the kind of man that occupies the White House.

“This is a story apparently from a wife of one of the Navy Seals in attendance… it makes interesting, disturbing, but hardly surprising reading.

Chris Kyle became the armed services number #1 sniper of all time.

Not something he was happy about, other than the
fact that in so doing, he saved a lot of American lives.

Three years ago, his wife Taya asked him to leave the SEAL teams because he had a huge bounty on his head by Al Qaeda.

He did and wrote the book “The American Sniper.”

100% of the proceeds from the book went to two of the SEAL families who had lost their sons in Iraq.

That was the kind of guy Chris was.

He formed a company in Dallas to train military, police and I think firemen, how to protect themselves in difficult situations.

He also formed a foundation to work with military people suffering from PTSD.

Chris was a giver not a taker.

He, along with a friend and neighbor, Chad Littlefield, were murdered trying to help a young man that had served six months in Iraq and claimed to have PTSD.

Now I need to tell you about all of the blessings.

Southwest Airlines flew in any SEAL and their family from any airport to the funeral… free of charge.

The employees donated buddy passes and one lady worked for four days without much of a break to see that it happened.

Volunteers were at both airports in Dallas to drive them to the hotel.

The Marriott Hotel reduced their rates to $45 a night and cleared the hotel for only SEAL’s and family.

The Midlothian, TX Police Department paid the $45 a night for each room.

I would guess there were about 200 people staying at the hotel, 100 of them were SEALs.

Two large buses were chartered (an unknown donor paid the bill) to transport people to the different events and they also had a few rental cars (donated).

The police and secret service were on duty 24 hours during the stay at our hotel.

At the Kyle house, the Texas DPS parked a large motor home in front to block the view from reporters.

It remained there the entire five days for the SEALs to meet in and so they could use the restroom there instead of the bathroom in the house.

Taya, their two small children and both sets of parents were staying in the home.

Only a hand full of SEALs went into the home as they had different duties and meetings were held sometimes on a hourly basis.

It was a huge coordination of many different events and security.

Derek was assigned to be a Pall Bearer, to escort Chris’s body when it was transferred from the Midlothian Funeral Home to the Arlington Funeral Home, and to be with Taya.

    A tough job.

Taya seldom came out of her bedroom.

The house was full with people from the church and other family members that would come each day to help.

I spent one morning in a bedroom with Chris’s mom and the next morning with Chad Littlefield’s parents (the other man murdered with Chris).

    A tough job.

George W. Bush and his wife Laura , met and talked to everyone on the Seal Team one on one.

They went behind closed doors with Taya for quite a while.

They had prayer with us all.

You can tell when people were sincere and caring.

Nolan Ryan sent his cooking team, a huge grill and lots of steaks, chicken and hamburgers.

They set up in the front yard and fed people all day long including the 200 SEALs and their families.

The next day a local BBQ restaurant set up a buffet in front of the house and fed all once again.

Food was plentiful and all were taken care of.

The family’s Church kept those inside the house well fed.

Jerry Jones, the man everyone loves to hate, was a rock star.

He and His wife were just making sure everyone was taken care of….

    Class.

He donated the use of Cowboy Stadium for the services because so many wanted to attend.

The charter buses transported us to the stadium on Monday at 10:30 am.

Every car, bus, motorcycle was searched with bomb dogs and police.

I am not sure if kooks were making threats trying to make a name for themselves or if so many SEALs in one place was a security risk, I don’t know.

    We willingly obliged.

No purses went into the stadium!

We were taken to The Legends room high up and a large buffet was available.

That was for about 300 people .

    We were growing.

A Medal of Honor recipient was there, lots of secret service and police and Sarah Palin and her husband.

She looked nice, this was a very formal military service.

The service started at 1:00 pm and when we were escorted onto the field I was shocked.

We heard that about 10,000 people had come to attend also.

They were seated in the stadium seats behind us .

It was a beautiful and emotional service.

The Bagpipe and drum corps were wonderful and the Texas A&M men’s choir stood through the entire service and sang right at the end.

    We were all in tears.

The next day was the 200-mile procession from Midlothian, TX to Austin for burial.

It was a cold, drizzly, windy day, but the people were out.

We had dozens of police motorcycles riders , freedom riders, five chartered buses and lots of cars .

You had to have a pass to be in the procession and still it was huge.

Two helicopters circled the procession with snipers sitting out the side door for protection.

It was the longest funeral procession ever in the state of Texas .

    People were everywhere.

The entire route was shut down ahead of us , the people were lined up on the side of the road the entire way.

Firemen were down on one knee, police officers were holding their hats over their hearts, children waving flags, veterans saluting as we went by.

Every bridge had fire trucks with large flags displayed from their tall ladders, people all along the entire 200 miles were standing in the cold weather.

    t was so heart warming.

Taya rode in the hearse with Chris’ body so Derek rode the route with us.

I was so grateful to have that time with him.

The service was at Texas National Cemetery.

Very few are buried there and you have to apply to get in .

It is like people from the Civil War, Medal of Honor winners, a few from the Alamo and all the historical people of Texas.

It was a nice service and the Patriot Guard and Freedom Riders surrounded the outside of the entire cemetery to keep the crazy church people from Kansas that protest at military funerals away from us.

Each SEAL put his Trident (metal SEAL badge) on the top of Chris’ casket, one at a time.

A lot hit it in with one blow.

Derek was the only one to take four taps to put his in and it was almost like he was caressing it as he did it.

    Another tearful moment.

After the service Governor Rick Perry and his wife, Anita , invited us to the governor’s mansion.

She stood at the door, greeted each of us individually, and gave each of the SEALs a coin of Texas.

She was a sincere, compassionate, and gracious hostess.

We were able to tour the ground floor and then went into the garden for beverages and BBQ.

So many of the Seal team guys said that after they get out they are moving to Texas.

They remarked that they had never felt so much love and hospitality.

The charter buses then took the guys to the airport to catch their returning flights.

Derek just now called and after a 20 hours flight he is back in his spot, in a dangerous land on the other side of the world, protecting America.

We just wanted to share with you, the events of a quite emotional, but blessed week.”

To this day, no one in the White House has ever acknowledged Chris Kyle; his service, his death, his duty, his generosity, his caring, his life.

However, the President can call a sports person and congratulate him on his bravery for announcing to the world that he is gay.

He can say on national television that someone, a man who has committed a crime and was shot by police in the line of duty, would have made him a good son.

The SEALS have asked that you please, keep this story moving if you think Chris Kyle would have made a good son.”

  17. Bad Brad: Link, please! Loved it!
I personally know a transgender guy/girl and I STILL don’t know what to say to him/her. He/she is a conservative, but is so fucked up that I expect that he/she will not live to the ripe old age of 50.

Get some HELP, for God’s sake! This is as crazy as people who cut themselves, or, as I read today, cut their entire arm off because their brain tells them that the arm is “bad”.
We treat cancer, we treat diabetes, so let’s TREAT mentally ill people instead of encouraging them to “follow their heart”, which inevitably lead them to either hurt themselves or the people around them.

  18. Hallelujah! I thought I was the only one who thought Gutfeld had gone over to the dark side.

I’ve been posting Fur’s analogy of an anorexic to Brucie. One we treat with intense mental-health intervention, the other we coddle and celebrate.

As Rush pointed out today — while the left is out there redefining “normal,” they’re also redefining what’s ABNORMAL, namely tradition and conservative values. That was a sobering statement.

When I last checked the London Daily Mail, the comments were unanimously sick of Caitlynn and the whole Kardashian crew. It was surprisingly conservative in tone, being that it is Europe and all. Go figure.

  19. Thank you Brad. I have heard some of that story but never the whole thing at one time. God Bless these dear Seals who serve our country! And a special blessing to the families left behind.

  20. Boo2, I built a gun for a young guy a couple months back. Obviously he was military and when they don’t say anything and are quite about it there’s a good chance the Special Forces. They don’t call them the silent warriors for nothing. Well we kind of hit it off and a couple days after I delivered the very trick gun he stopped by and gave me a Seal Banner/Flag. It’s hanging in my shop. Very special people.

  21. PS, If you’ve never seen the Seal Flag I can take a picture and maybe BFH will post it. When you think of the men behind it more than inspirational its like Merica, fuck yea.

  22. Unruly, Merica is alive and well on Instagram. The anti hipsters live here. I’m old, don’t ask me why. But I’m rolling with it. Anybody wants some site to watch I will forward them. I don’t comment anywhere there. I just read and learn.

  23. Unruly, you gotta sign up. But you can sign up private. Keep in mind Instagram is all about and built around IPhones. But you can mark sites as ones to watch so you constantly get their stuff.

  24. Brad….
Thanks for your info. I’m over the hill to but I use this iPhone because we don’t have Internet.
I’ll get one of my grandkids to show me how to do Instagram.
Can’t wait to read up on that site you posted!
