Two American journalists have created a Twitter bot that “corrects” people who tweet the term “illegal immigrant”, and offers alternatives. But not everyone appreciates the suggestion.
The “I” word has been called into question in recent years. Defining any human being as “illegal” is considered offensive by some, who think the term should be reconsidered.
That’s why Patrick Hogan and Jorge Rivas, journalists at Fusion.net, created a Twitter bot – a computer programme to compose and publish tweets automatically – to “correct” people who use the term on the social network.
Twitter users who include the phrase in any context may receive a message from the bot reading: “People aren’t illegal. Try saying “undocumented immigrant” or “unauthorized immigrant” instead.”
I’m going to create a bot that re-corrects the other bot.
“How about ‘criminal?”
Delete the bot, strip them of their U.S. Citizenship and deport them to Senegal.. hope they catch the Ebola virus.
How about “espalda mojada”?
Does Twitter work the same as the internet? Can you just space out some letters or use symbol keys? Personally, I’d switch to “illegals” or spell it “illigils.” Maybe they’d rather you use “wetback”?
I have to agree, we shouldn’t call them illegal.
we should call them what they are, “criminal” aliens.
they are criminals because they broke the law.
what they did, cross the border without permission, was “illegal” and “criminal”, but you would call them criminal not illegal.
wasn’t it the progressives who termed the phrase illegal aliens in the first place in order to remove the term criminal from their description?
Instead of “illegal immigrants”, how about “illegal aliens”? Yeah. That’s the ticket.
How bout “Illegal Invading Rat-People?”
Unauthorized democrats.
Wow. Twitter has standards? Maybe they can get around to reinstating CJ next.
They say that the justification is that “actions are illegal – not people.” OK. I’ll play along. How about replacing the term with “criminals who are here illegally”? A few more words but it covers their objection.
I was married to a “legal alien”. How do I know that? It was printed on my tax forms. If he’d entered the country illegally, he’d be an “illegal alien”. At no time was he referred to as an “immigrant”.
The left can manipulate words however they want, but it doesn’t change the legal facts.
Unauthorized non-citizen?
Nope – illegal alien sounds more accurate.
“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” -George Orwell
Don’t call these two asshole leftists journalists. Their personal opinions are on display for all to see and no doubt color any “reporting” that they do. News organizations are riddled with leftists who don’t report the news anymore, they shape it to fit the liberal/progressive narrative however they want their staff to not advertise their social leanings so as not to have their work questioned. With luck, these two dickwads are getting their new assignments to the ladies home gardening section as we speak.
Illegal alien invaders.
LOL!
Glad their account is suspended. But the consequences of that continuing would have been that we would all have to resort to colorful terms such as “wetback” and “Spic”.
If they want to play, let’s play. Heh.
here in the uk we call ours ” f”kin third world shite “
