The big questions that have not been answered:
Who received the EPA contract to do this work?
Who at the EPA oversaw the work at the site?
Did the contractor not have insurance/bond to cover their work as per the contract?
Why is the EPA trying to protect the contractor and insurance company?
Why? Because what happened at that mine is exactly what they expected and wanted to happen. Now the EPA gets more money, more people, and Oh Joy! gets to set this up as a superfund site or something just as stupid, bloated, and authoritarian.
If a private corporation had caused this spill and then tried to get the Indians to sign away their rights to future lawsuits, the progressive press would be bleating about this for months.
But when Gay Barry’s Sturmtruppen do it, then it’s okay.
