Flagging Interest

New Zealand has been in the process of deciding on a new national flag. They’ve held a couple of nationwide referendums to select the top 40 designs and recently reduced the choices down to 4 possible options.

Due to popular demand, they recently added one more called “Red Peak.”

Once they have the final design selected they will hold one more vote to decide if the new flag really is better than the current flag.

I just can’t believe they didn’t have at least one flag design with Hobbits on it.

  1. I’d vote for the Silver Fern & Southern Cross combo if they have to change it at all.

When asked what time it was in New Zealand the Brits would answer “1953” and they were right (and it wasn’t a bad thing) until the early 80’s when David Lange & his Labor Commies destroyed the ANZUS Treaty and sent this South Pacific Eden down the path to Orwell’s Oceania.

  2. The only one I like, and think fit for being the flag of a COUNTRY, is the one with the blue background, and the Southern Cross constellation (no, it has nothing to do with the US Civil War).
The rest are just SO fruity, I think I need an insulin injection to offset the sugar rush.

  3. According to Māori legend, the silver fern once lived in the sea. It was asked to come and live in the forest to play a significant role in guiding the Māori people.

Māori hunters and warriors used the silver underside of the fern leaves to find their way home. When bent over, the fronds would catch the moonlight and illuminate a path through the forest.

This distinctly New Zealand symbol is considered a badge of honour by the people, products and services of our country that carry it.

It has been the symbol of New Zealand’s national rugby team since the 1880s and is now proudly worn by all our top athletes and prominently carried by many of our top companies.
