Secret Service tried to discredit Rep. Jason Chaffetz

Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah

WASHINGTON (AP) — Scores of U.S. Secret Service employees improperly accessed the decade-old, unsuccessful job application of a congressman who was investigating scandals inside the agency, a new government report said Wednesday. An assistant director suggested leaking embarrassing information to retaliate against Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, chairman of the House oversight committee.

The actions by the employees could represent criminal violations under the U.S. Privacy Act, said the report by the Homeland Security Department’s inspector general, John Roth. “It doesn’t take a lawyer explaining the nuances of the Privacy Act to know that the conduct that occurred here — by dozens of agents in every part of the agency — was wrong,” the report said.

  1. As I recall, the SS has two jobs.

    1. Protecting the prez, VP, and candidates. All I can say is that that particular job isn’t really worth the time, effort, and money.

    2. Going after counterfeiters. If they were worth anything at all in that effort, they’d have the entire Federal Reserve management in prison. So they aren’t worth a damn there, either.

    Bureaucraps.

  2. Think back. Three weeks ago there was talk that the secret service would take over security for Trump. And I said Oh Fxck no. They’d show up with the heart attack machine for the entire family.

  3. Maybe if the assholes didn’t have taxpayer-funded protection they would not be quite so arrogant. And, since they all become very rich, while in office, or running for office let them provide for their own protection (due to gun laws however their guards cannot carry guns or other dangerous weapons)! As old Bay-rack always says it’s better to negotiate than to fight anyway!
