In Philly, those doors are used by burglars’ hired ghetto kids* to enter a house let in the thugs.

Yeah, I’d love for my large dogs to be able to let themselves in and out the back door, but even I could get through one of those doors and I’m a decent sized man with broad shoulders.
So, tough luck for them and me. Never will install one.
I have a friend that has a wiener dog sized one that locks – the dog’s collar has a radio transmitter that unlocks it when she gets near. Even that can’t be too hard to defeat if you have a mind to do it. You certainly have to be tiny to fit through that size, though.
At least the locking kind keeps out the Opossums and Raccoons though.
For a moment I thought the carrot was gonna get lost under the baseboard.
Barry and Micheal were lovers! Lordy how they could love!
At least the dachshund can use the doggy door for going outside instead of soiling the carpet.
The pair in the bottom photo, no so much.
