WIND: STILL TWO OR THREE TIMES THE COST OF CONVENTIONAL ENERGY

wind power

Breitbart: Wind power now UK’s cheapest source of electricity – but the Government continues to resist onshore turbines.

That was the headline in the Independent this time last week. I’m not suggesting for a moment that you’re an Independent reader but suppose for a moment you were: what do you think your reaction might have been?

Mine, I suspect, would have been not dissimilar to that of the eight thousand readers who decided it was worth sharing – and indeed that of the two or three who used it to needle sceptics on Twitter.

“Take that, evil deniers!” I would have gone in my smug, Independent-reading way. And it would never have occurred to me to question the premise for a number of reasons.

1. It was written by the Environment Editor on a reasonably well-respected national newspaper. And people with responsible jobs like that don’t make sh!t up, do they?  more here

  1. Oh sure, if you unfairly count capital expenditures and taxpayer subsidies against wind turbines and pretend that the punitive taxes and levies charged to those evil carbon based competing energy forms to prop up the bogus “alternative” energy boondoggles don’t effect their bottom line, wind energy may cost a little more to produce. But if we were honest about the actual costs involved, Bloomberg’s “accountants” couldn’t convince people with functioning brain cells to actually invest in his big government pipe dreams and he wouldn’t be able to add to his $billions by fleecing morons that believe they are selflessly saving the earth from humanity.

Now we know how the little tyrant got so rich ………. tricking progressive / environmental whackjobs into listening to him for financial advice.

  2. Denmark with wind turbines generating 40% of their electricity has electric rates nearly 3 times higher than the US. It was 4X until the Euro-Dollar rate cratered. Job well done, Olaf.

Germany with their crazy solar fetish has electric rates almost as high.

  3. Speaking of wind flatulence, supposedly Mike Ditka farted on Cris Carter on ESPN. I’ll have to find the link and show the Manderin kids. ESPN football AND farts? They’ll be in football fart heaven!

BTW, the eldest Manderin still goes, “Dad. This is for Michelle Obama.” Then he just rips one. He’s on an allergy-free diet so this routine happens quite frequently.

  4. We need a full court press with the best minds we can find to make fusion power generation a reality in the next 20 years.

We are lazy, unimaginative, and feckless if we don’t get serious about this.
