Disney Workers Speak Out About H1B Debacle

CR: Hundreds of thousands of US tech jobs are being outsourced to foreign workers via the H1B visa program, and two former Disney employees are speaking out about it.

A My Sun Coast ABC News report follows the story of David Powers and Leo Perrero, two ten-year vets in Disney’s IT department recently laid off by the company for cheaper labor.

Powers and Perrero were two of the brains behind your magical Disney World experience. For the past 10 years, both worked behind the scenes in the IT field, using high-tech data to ensure all points of sale—from tickets to resort stays—were seamless for visitors. Attaining some of the highest recognitions Disney could give, being let go was the last thing they expected.

“I’m in the room with about two-dozen people, and very shortly thereafter an executive delivers the news that all of our jobs are ending in 90 days, and that we have 90 days to train our replacements then we won’t get a bonus that we’ve been offered,” says Leo Perrero, a former app developer for Disney.

  1. Yeah. . . Right. . . My job is ending. . . So why do you need a replacement for a job that no longer exists? And I should train that replacement in my own job?

Here’s the On switch. Here’s the Off switch. Here’s the binder. Are there pages missing? Ohhhh. . . I must have forgotten to write some of the pages and steps down to operate this system fully and properly. I’ll get them to you. . . .tomorrow.
Oops! Did I forget to tell you some (many) of the little proprietary details that it took me 10 years to develop on my own? Hey! I’m outta here! If you’re so good, you figure it out. Oh, and Disney Corp(se), good luck keeping track of those now messed up sales.
