The town I called home 5 decades ago. The town is named East Chicago, IN. North of id is Whiting, IN, home of the famous pierogi parade. Butting up to the NW edge of Whiting is Chicago’s infamous South Side. Chicago, Whiting and East Chicago share the southern shore of Lake Michigan.
I read somewhere in the comments that he was running unopposed. Yet, people voted for him anyway? How about write ins? Or skip it?

East Chicago is in Lake County IN. The last time I heard Chicago mob style body drops were made in Lake Co. area was in about the 70’s. Northern Lake County politics took on all the flavor of Chicago politics, except some of E.C.’s mayors wind up in jail eventually – Mayors Pabey, Nicosia, and Pastrick wore stripes in my lifetime. May have been more, but I lost touch intermittently with E.C. goings on.

You DID NOT, I REPEAT, DID NOT, miss voting in E.C. even back when I lived there. The precinct committeeman knew who voted, and if you didn’t come in to vote, someone was sent by car to knock on your door and pick you up to vote. I know that for fact at least back 5 decades ago. I really doubt that’s changed.
