BigGovernment: As part of CBS 46’s ongoing coverage of gun policies and issues in the Atlanta area they recently reported that Mayor Kasim Reed (D) and Police Chief George Turner are sitting on more than “10,000” confiscated guns in defiance of a Georgia law which requires them to return the guns to their owners or sell them to the public in an auction.

The sellback measure was signed into law in 2012 by Governor Nathan Deal (R).  MORE

  1. The corruption in govt. agencies like this starts at the top and filters down throughout the organization. The Atlanta city govt. is completely infested with corrupt, self-serving, political whores including Mohammed Kasim Reed (who claims to be Methodist yet fired the fire chief that wrote a book with a single page noting that the Bible condemns homosexuality).

Gov. Nathan Deal has the authority and in fact, the duty (according to the state constitution) to ensure that the laws are properly enforced, I’m not holding my breath that he will shut this little charade down though because he’s cut from the same cloth as the rest of the political hacks.

  2. Well, since ignoring laws is OK, now . . .

I’d like to see cities in conservative areas declare themselves 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Cities, and start ignoring the various unconstitutional state and federal anti-gun laws.

The left would respect that, right?

  3. This could be an awesome tool to shine the light on unlawful weapons holders, make all ‘owners’ pass a FBI background investigation before they get the weapon back.
That would keep them out of the hands of criminals.
It’s Atlanta, just because they passed a check when they bought the weapon doesn’t mean they will now.
Lots of gangs pressure recruits to buy weapons for the gang before they get dirty.
Lawful owners get their weapon back, criminals get put on a useful list.

    Win, win!

  4. “Gov. Nathan Deal has the authority and in fact, the duty…”

Right as rain. Citizens of Georgia should support the Governor by assuring him that he has their support.

If not us, WHO will force these criminals to stop breaking laws.
