Alan Keyes: Ben Carson’s conservatism ‘Much ado about nothing’

WND: This week I read an article that quoted Ben Carson’s response to a question about the judicial murder of Terri Schindler-Schiavo, by starvation, in 2005.

When … asked whether Carson thought it was necessary for Congress to intervene, he said: “I don’t think it needed to get to that level. I think it was much ado about nothing.”

Longtime readers of my columns here at WND may recall that I was among those who tried to help the Schindler family prevent the anti-constitutional abuse of judicial power that procured Terri’s death. At the time I wrote a column that explained at length the profound constitutional issues that were at stake, which affect the whole purpose of constitutional government in the United States. Dr. Carson’s remark shows either utter contempt for those issues, or inexcusable ignorance. Either way, it suggests that he is profoundly unfit for the high office he seeks. Though his supporters will make their usual self-contradictory excuses, they are frequently called upon to do so because of his present and past lapses. They indicate that instances of Dr. Carson’s profound indifference to, or contempt for, our nation’s moral premises have been so frequent as to establish an evidentiary pattern.

  1. Not cherry picked in the least. Keys makes his opinion known and lets all know why. The good doctor is and has come to the party a bit late and is sorting out out his feelings on oh so many issues. I like the man and appreciate his arrival but he has much explaining and sorting out to do.

At this point, he may not BE ready for prime time, however, he had stepped up and made Obama look like the goon he is and we love him for it. Constitutionally speaking, his learning has only just begun. Ted Cruz on the other hand has been living and advocating for a return to those principles laid out by the Founders.

I’ve listen to those that claim the man has anger issues and respect their opinion but knowing what I know of those that claimed I, I can understand Carson having them after being around libtards in Baltimore.

  2. I felt so strongly about the Schiavo case that it hurts to know Mr. Carson would say such a thing. Life is precious and the way Terri was treated was terrible. God has a good place prepared for some of those attorneys and ex-husband.

  3. In this case, Dr. Carson was right, although he might have chosen his words more carefully. I certainly wouldn’t want Congress interposing itself into MY family’s affairs, and I doubt most other freedom-loving Americans would, either.

This whole sordid episode merely underscores the need to make a Living Will. Then your wishes will be respected without interference from strangers who do not have your best interests at heart.

  4. I might understand the gubmint getting involved if Schiavo had no blood family members to care for her or pick up the tab, but she did. Her parents would’ve gladly cared for her to her natural death.

As it was, they were searched before visiting her in her last days — for water or an ice chip for her cracked lips — while she was starved and dehydrated to death. They were forced to watch their beautiful daughter suffer a horrendous death and prevented BY LAW to do anything about it.

That is NOT America as the Founders intended.
