Anatomy of Social Media “Murder”

The heartless hairdresser who posted outrageous Facebook rant about a 57-year-old mother ruining her New Year’s Eve meal by having a HEART ATTACK in the bar

Holly Jones (center) went online to slam staff at Kilroy’s Bar N’ Grill in Indianapolis (left), after she said staff told her ‘someone dying was important then (sic) us’.

She wrongly stated that the unnamed woman (right) was a ‘junkie’ having an overdose, and criticized waiters for not giving them the service she desired as they went to her aid.

However she was unaware that the woman, 57, had fallen ill during a meal out with her husband. The woman had to be treated on the bar floor by paramedics and is expected to survive, but manager Chris Burton told Daily Mail Online she was in a bad condition for a while.

He responded to Jones on Facebook, saying her behavior was ‘disgusting’ and has since received thousands of positive messages from around the world – with many people saying they would come to his bar for a drink.

Jones, who is a hair stylist, has deleted her Facebook profile and has complained to Burton, saying it wasn’t her who posted the message. The establishment where she works, Serenity Salon, has received several comments from other Facebook users calling for Jones to be fired.

!snip!

We must do whatever we can, from behind our keyboards, to make a person unknown to us as miserable as possible because they said something stupid about someone personally unknown to us.

The lady might’ve been an idiot, but is the proportional response to destroy her?

I don’t get it.

Apple should develop a kill button that, when depressed, will put to death someone that outraged us through a story we read over our bagel and coffee.

  1. See? That’s exactly why I don’t go to restaurants or bars (paying $25 for a $3 steak got nuthin to do with it) … some non-entity, walk-on, bit part player in my life might die, or get sick, and interrupt my meal.

  2. This so-called lady was heartless and selfish. She deserves all the ridicule she is getting.

BUT, unless her job was a food critic reviewing the restaurant, calling for her being fired is over the line. That’s what SJWs do.

  3. it’s always the same excuse, it wasn’t me who posted the msg

reminds me of the show “cops” when law enforcement asks the criminal why they were running from the law, only to be told “i was scared because you were chasing me”..

too many idiots, not enough time

  4. The woman ticked because of poor service is an idiot. The commenters about her feel that they are ‘entitled’ to be her judge and jury because by golly their opinion is THAT important. They are dummies too.

No one has un-uttered thoughts anymore. Bandwagon jumpers with selfie sticks!

    MYOB.

  5. She was a youngish kid posting a dumb comment at 2 AM on new years eve. Alcohol was likely involved. Certainly doesn’t excuse her but it also did not belong on the everly local news channel this morning.

Another internet casualty so I warn my kids again heck almost daily to watch everything you post and for that matter say. Kids arguing on the playground and one says “I’m gonna kill you” will shut down the school and lead to expulsions. I feel like compared to my teenagers we were ten times more reckless. Thank God film was expensive and you had to go to the neighborhood photomat to develop it…

  6. The “young lady” who posted her narcissistic rant IN PUBLIC on a SOCIAL MEDIA deserves all the ridicule she gets.
Geez people, it’s not always all about you. Get over yourself and show some sympathy for someone else.
    (shakes head, mutters, walks away)

  7. ‘Jones, who is a hair stylist, has deleted her Facebook profile and has complained to Burton, saying it wasn’t her who posted the message.’

Why do these maroons always deny they posted the ugly messages?

I wish these people would grow up, accept responsibility for their words/actions and issue apologies all around.

Social media – the banality of evil and the evil of banality.

  8. I’m a bit confused between the headline and the story. Was it a 57 YO woman or a 70 YO woman that had a heart attack?

    The manager says 70+

In response Burton said: ‘We love feedback, whether it be positive or negative.

‘I especially like feedback like this so others can see the disgusting people that we have to deal with sometimes.

‘First of all, the ‘overdosing junkie’ that you speak of was a 70+ year old woman who had a heart attack.’

    ———-

    In vino veritas

She revealed herself. If I were dating her and found this out, I would dump her. Being like this is to the bone.

Seeing how my date treats others when inebriated counts. Not everyone is a selfish ass when drunk. I’ve moved on from a couple of women that were only embarrassing when tipsy. If it’s something I can count on – count me out.

  9. There is no sense of proportion left in the world.

Now, there is no difference between doing something STUPID and something HARMFUL. In each case, the response is identical. Bad manners are judged the same as bad behavior. An insult is treated like a physical injury.

And we wonder why there is so much misapplied drama and idiotic actions in the world in response to very little.

    Reason number 5,858 why I don’t Facebook.

  10. Probably because they are stupid and leave their phones, unlocked, with their FB open. It’s plausible in that world. I’ve posted silly stuff on my wife and kids’ FD when they leave their pages accessible.

  11. I find it implausible that someone else knew the situation well enough AND had access to someone’s phone/account that had been there.

Not buying the “Wasn’t me”. (Insert eyeroll here)

  12. Thank you Trooper.
    That’s exactly my point.
The FB poster was an idiot, the type we used to look at with disgust and shake our heads and walk away.
Now it’s the SJW’s mission to find out who she is and destroy her.
Exactly what harm did she do to the woman who had the heart attack ?
Where is the sense of proportionality?
    It’s gone.

This is a bit of a stretch analogy, but I think it works.
Candid Camera was a show we all enjoyed that involved pranks.
    What was a prank?
Having a gas station guy not be able to find the gas tank fill up and observing his frustration.

    What is a prank today?
Having a gas station attendant kidnapped, thrown in the trunk of a car, driven into the woods and tied to a tree. His friend comes out with a chainsaw and tells him he’s going to die.

Then glitter falls out of the tree and and everyone dances around and tells him it was a joke.

And we’re told that this is the most educated generation.

  13. This is the Land of the Perpetually Offended, and the Looking to be Offended.
The days of the Cowboy Code are over.
The Media-sphere is like a pen full of chickens.
Any perceived imperfection is met by mobbing and death.
