He’s Paid His Debt to Society, Right?

Now the Sheriff is having to defend the decision to hire Rafael George Macias as the department’s radio technician.

  1. My humble opinion; No, he shouldn’t be working for any law enforcement agency. Ever.

    Why is he still alive?

The town is destined to be filled with transgenders.

  2. “Priebe said Macias had been working on the sheriff’s department radio system as contractor for about 10 years before Priebe took office and hired him in 2011. Macias was upfront about his conviction when he was approached about the job, Priebe said. He was not asked about the details at the time. ”

Yeah, because the sheriff’s department just doesn’t have the training to do background checks and shit like that. I mean who are they? Some kind of investigation team or something? Pfft.

  3. Macias was 20 and an airman at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas when he pleaded guilty to killing and dismembering his live-in girlfriend, Julia Adams, also 20, in 1977, according to news reports from the time. Police linked Macias to the crime after he reported her missing, the reports say.

No death penalty in TX back in 1977? because I don’t know how else he avoided an appointment with the executioner.

  4. Now we have a little more understanding about the cops in Wisconsin. First we have Avery, now we have Macias, then there’s that sheriff who is always on Fox.

I’m of the opinion that Macias paid his dues, let him be.

Do I think it’s correct? Well yes, I do. While the crime is horrendous, it appears Macias has jumped through the hoops of judicial punishment and done so without repeat offenses.

While I have my own personal thoughts on his character, in the eyes of “the state,” there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able hold down a job to support himself so long as one is available.

  5. I remember this crime because I come from George’s hometown and my parents were friends of his parents. I can tell you that he came from a loving family. Fine people.

Clearly something snapped in him and he committed a heinous crime. A crime to which he pleaded guilty, and for which he did time in prison. He was only 20 years old, and obviously had serious problems that were not being addressed. He is incredibly sorry for what he did, and not a day goes by that he doesn’t think of it and feel remorse.

Since he has been out of prison, he has not broken any laws and has been steadily employed. As the Sheriff says, George is an example of rehabilitation.
