If Trump was your neighbor you’d be sick of his self-aggrandizing

But there’s a big difference between Trump’s massive ego and your neighbor’s.

C. Steven Tucker sends this in.

  1. Boy, I hope he is right that you can USE Trump to get what you want, but I think you better read the fine print of this contract you are so quick to sign with Trump. I suspect there are a lot of clauses you aren’t going to like and a lot of things that you want that you might get only not the way you intended and then who’s fault is it when it doesn’t work for you? If Trump gets what Trump wants and in the same situation he is able to claim he gave you what he promised then in his mind and with his ego it’s YOUR fault if you didn’t get the specifics beforehand and it turns out not to be not exactly what you thought you heard him promise.

I think a lot of people are trying to do to politicians what they feel politicians have been doing to them for years; manipulate. The only problem is that it was immoral and unethical when the politicians did it, so what makes anyone believe it is right and just to do it themselves. I seriously believe we are in for a world of hurt thanks to people now trying to play the same “psychology games” they have now realized have been played on them for years. And one of the biggest problems with this action is which side has had far more practice at it.

  2. One thing this guy in the video seems to miss is, when Trump says he’s going to do something for himself or his company, he can do whatever the hell he wants because he doesn’t answer to others. The President on the other hand cannot act unilaterally to do what he wants the way Donald can with his personal goals. Maybe that’s why I don’t necessarily believe that everything Trump wants to do is going to happen. I don’t know. It may just be because I’m immune to the whole cult of personality thing.

Somewhere in my heart I just want to restore our friggin Republic.

But I don’t “believe in” politicians — I don’t care if they’re career politicians or newly sprouted politicians. I don’t “believe in” any human being. I’m not looking to elect a savior. Right now I support Ted Cruz. But I do not “believe in” Ted Cruz. He is a flawed candidate. In fact, they all are flawed candidates.

But the truth is most every other Republican running would be far and away better than Hillary or Bernie.

If Trump is the nominee, I will vote for him over Hillary, but not because I believe in him or what he says but because I know for a fact that Hillary is a vile and disgusting liar who would sink the final nail in our coffin.

  3. I think we can all agree that pursuing and getting to the highest office in the free world almost (alllmost) reuires a certain level of narcissism. The good side: the ability to make big decisions with confidence. Bad side: possibly not listening to the will of the people, and people in his cabinet.
Kasich: would make a GREAT cabinet person.

  4. Your concern with some of Trumps policy suggestions are valid. He says some stuff that leave any political savvy person thinking good luck with that. Example, Nation wide carry permits. Or end gun free zones. The individual states might have something to say about that. But then again how is that any different than the rest of them? Abolish the IRS. What do you think the odds of that actually happening are?
Here’s the big difference for me and it’s the economy. The last debate on the tariff issue, he’s the only one that got it right, and that’s huge. In fact that’s a winner for me.

  5. It isn’t that it is different from the others. I was responding to what the guy in the video said. I was explaining that I don’t simply believe Trump will do everything he says. Which was what the guy in the video said we all believe in our hearts. I was only responding that I do not believe in my heart what he said I believe in my heart.

I am concerned about the tariffs talk myself. Mostly because of what Smoot-Hawley caused.

  6. Smoot-Hawley was in the 1930’s. Drastically different economy. Our government has given away our manufacturing base. Manufacturing is normally 24% to 26% of GDP. It currently is at less than 8%. Compare that with the effect of Smoot-Hawley. We are a huge chunk of China’s market. If we clamped down on China you would see our economy boom quickly. There’s a ton of Capital setting on the side lines just waiting to be used. It needs to happen fast.

  7. This time around, I rather be lied to by Trump than another politician. I’m not going to be another “Charlie Brown Republican” (term copyright Mr. Pinko) anymore.

  8. And that’s exactly what makes me “leery” of Cruz. Listen to his words carefully. Parsing like a politician/lawyer. When his promises fail he’ll blame “bi-partisan” failure (Congress/Senate), not take responsibility as a failed leader.
Trump makes outright promises of building a wall (a HUGE wall), deport illegals and fix our economy. I don’t think Trump is going to write checks he can not cash. If he fails, then I have no faith in the political process at all.
I’M FOR TRUMP FIRST – CRUZ SECOND! I AM FOR CRUZ – my SECOND CHOICE!!!

  9. ……and has it escaped anyone’s notice that Trump lives in an utterly palatial superluxury condo (yoooge, midtown Manhattan, views of Central Park) RENT-FREE?

He owns Trump Tower and was the first residential tenant to move in. I doubt very much he makes himself pay rent or even the monthly maintenance fee that the plebians have to pay. All he would have had to do was designate the apartment “owner’s residence,” and not made it part of the offering plan, to achieve this clever outcome.

Mere mortals cannot comprehend how brilliant Trump is.

  10. Umm…if YOU paid to build the whole, f*cking, entire building, I doubt YOU’D think you were living there “rent free”…

…instead saying to yourself, “hot damn! I’m a f*cking genius for investing in this beauty and I’m gonna sure enjoy reaping the fruits of my investment!”

Or, maybe that’s what you meant…?

  11. Dianny, it’s no surprise that it’s different when you’re the boss of your own business (you, Trump) VERSUS being Presindent of the USA, with all its checks, balances and typical DC Hysteria (I grew up with it).

It takes a leader. That’s what a boss is.
He’s not saying he’s gonna be a dictator, quite the opposite.

SURE there are unknowns. Sure, these days (as compared to decades…centuries?…ago) not having a non-politician [I think Eisenhower was the most recent?] sounds scary, but – pardon the cliche, I think it’s fitting – now the time is right for Trump.

I’d rather take the “ooh, but what if he doesn’t come through on his promises?” risk with him than with ANY politician. ANY.

  12. My point about Trump is that you are supposed to accept that what Trump claims to want now is what Trump really wants if given the power. The problem is always in the fine print and with Trump he is merely practicing the art of the deal with those that are currently supporting him. Telling them that he is in agreement with them while failing to be specific about his approach and what it would require of the country. In any good deal you begin negotiations by first finding common ground on which to build a relationship and then as the deal progresses you maneuver your newfound friends into supporting the deal with your terms and conditions.

A great example is that right now he is telling everyone in a loud voice that he would send every illegal alien back to their original country. But in a quieter voice and usually as a mere addendum he mentions that he would allow them all back by opening legal immigration as wide as possible. So while they have to leave they then get to come right back and this time legally. So the influx of new immigrants and the strain they will place on the system is still there only now we have no way of controlling it.

Sorry, but I think a whole lot of people who supported him are going to get a whole lot of crap they never wanted if Trump is elected.

  13. I don’t, for the life of me, understand people that criticize Trump by saying “well, there’s no way he can keep all his promises….. gubmit checks & balances & all….”
WHAT THE HELL ARE THE POLITICIANS PROMISING????
You good with that??? ‘Cause that’s what the alternative is. More of the same old same old. America circling the drain at an ever faster rate.
Trump, realistically, may not deliver here or there, but what are the politicians going to deliver? ….Nothing more that the same sh!t they’ve been shoveling ….. & it’s burying our country
    I’m ready for a real change …. TRUMP 2016

  14. But I have listened to Cruz and to Trump. Trump always has those little addendums that either come out as comments after a speech or interview or come out as hastily written items left to readers to find later. I am curious if anyone can name anything that Cruz has promised on which he hasn’t worked to deliver and was either thwarted by the Democrats or his own party?

I think the idea of suggesting that it is better to be lied to by Trump than Cruz is rather arbitrary since the only difference is one has a track record in politics while the other is a complete unknown. Trump is very careful to never disclose his true motivations or give away any of the particulars of his plans. He says I am going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it. When he said that it sounded like hyperbole and it still sounds like “red meat” for conservatives. The truth is he could get away with saying he fulfilled that promise as long as even one section of the wall was started during his term and appeared to be paid for by Mexico while in reality it money given as aid to Mexico and Mexico is given legislation that makes Mexicans exempt from normal visa or immigration restrictions thereby allowing unlimited immigration from Mexico and a free pass for every Mexican to come here for they “free ride” on welfare while then being able to move freely back and forth between here and there. It’s a win-win since Trump pleases the Chamber of Commerce types with unlimited employment pool, he gave you that wall you wanted, and the Democrats win because they get a new pool of voters from south of the border. Everybody wins !!!

You guys need to really think through this idea of supporting Trump and get rid of the emotions that are driving you in this direction. Only Liberals use emotions instead of brains to make such important decisions. Don’t be pseudo-Liberal.

  15. if Donald Trump was my neighbor I’d either totally ignore him or punch him in his face
…BECAUSE he’d just be a pompous windbag that, in actuality, accomplished nothing more than I have in life
Donald Trump can bloviate, brag all he wants because he has done what he has set out to do. The Man walks the walk & talks the talk…. unlike what passes for our present ‘leadership’, including most all our ‘politicians’.
