via USAToday The band’s website posted the news late Monday under the heading, “It Is With The Heaviest of Hearts That We Announce …”
and then continued “…the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016.
Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.
The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery.
Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.”
Frey was 67.
Wow. That’s all I can say.
One of the greatest bands of all time and by far my favorite Eagle who wrote what I think their best song, “Tequila Sunrise”.
RIP Mr.Frey
I guess paying over $400 a ticket to see the Eagles doesn’t seem so crazy now.
It seems like we are losing a Rocker a week lately. All before their time.
I’ve updated the video with your suggestion of Tequila Sunrise.
I heard the news today and thought, “what is going on?!?”
Sad. *sigh*
John Mellencamp better stop smoking those cigs.
Thank you Illustr8r 🙂
Damn. This was playing in my truck on the way into work this morning. One of my top 5 favorite bands.

Heaven – there’s a new kid in town.
That desperado was too young. Bummer.
What’s going on? And they have been fairly young. Is the Rapture next?
Eagles: My first-ever “grown-up” favorite band, once I realized there was such a thing a “bands.” This makes me so sad.
Thank you Lord for allowing us to enjoy the gifts of music and song through Glenn Frey.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Such wonderful music – so many terrific songs. We all have or favorites, and mine has always been this one. This is a live concert recording from 1977…

To each our own opinion but “Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona such a fine sight to see. It’s a girl my Lord in a flat bed Ford slowin’ down to take a look at me” are some of the great lyrics of my time. RIP to a great artist
One of my favorite groups. Knocked off a bucket list item a few years ago by seeing them in person.
Maybe some of the highest notes were lower, but they put on an awesome show. And yes, Joe Walsh was in attendance and amazing.
On a light note – When my youngest was around 9-10 months old (she’s now 31), as soon as she heard the first notes of “The Heat Is On” she would start laughing, kicking her legs and flailing her arms. Beat anything you see on youtube today. 🙂
RIP Glenn Frey. You gave so many millions years of joy.
Not Glenn Frey, but Eagles just the same.
Maybe one of the Presidential candidates can take this on as a campaign song:

Either that, Claudia, or we’ve reached that age where instead of looking at Facebook to see what’s new with our friends we read the obits.
RIP, Glenn. Your band and music made a lot of folks happy.
The Heat Is Gone – RIP and thanks for all the great music and memories, Glenn.
The past drug abuse and his immunologic problems took a very heavy toll. He was physiologically much older than his stated age….as we say in the hospital: he was 67…in dog years….
Meanwhile Justin Bieber lives on…….
One of my favorites by my favorite band of all time. Thanks for posting!
Saw Eagles in concert in 2003 and it was AMAZING. They’re my favorite band, so I love a lot of their songs, but One of These Nights is probably tops. Seven Bridges Road, Hotel California, Desperado, Lyin’ Eyes, Best of My Love, Life in the Fast Lane, Heartache Tonight, Those Shoes, Get Over It, New Kid in Town… so many great tunes. RIP Glenn. 🙁
Just heard the news, sad day is all I can say.
glad i saw them in shreveport…. last concert
The Eagles were not one of my favorite bands when I was younger, but they grew on me over time and eventually became one that I listened to quite a bit. Unlike many of today’s groups, the Eagles and their music withstood the test of several decades of time.
R.I.P Mr. Frey – another part of my youth gone.
Yes and all these old evil politicians continue to breathe…..RIP Glen.
Damn it.
Glen did a few episodes of Miami Vice in the 80’s. He was a fair actor too.
Last year we drove through Winslow AZ on the way home to NV and I couldn’t get that song out of my head for a hundred miles 🙂
“People don’t run out of dreams, they run out of time”
River of Dreams
The extended saxophone opening for “You Belong To The City” still gives me chills.
RIP GF
I may be the only one here that knows or remembers this one.. Still have the cassette tape 🙂 What an interesting transitional period in rock between the 70’s and 80’s.

When I served overseas, this was the theme song for anyone in our squadron who was short and about to rotate back to the States.
Saw The Eagles at the Texas Jam in 1979. Still remember the performance all these years later. They opened for Christopher Cross. (Just kidding!) Tickets were less than $20. (Not kidding!)
RIP
Enjoyed his work.
