There’s something nice and something very depressing and sad about the last of any profession.
YouTube- Gomberg Seltzer Works is the last seltzer company in New York City. There are eight seltzer men at Gomberg, who are all pretty entering old age. This is a story about the remaining few dedicated to the craft of old-fashion seltzer.

🙂
Love his accent.
Can’t have a good egg cream without a spritz from a real seltzer bottle.
Or a 3 stooges=style food fight.
Ooooh! I heard “Seltzermen” and I thought maybe there was a union of professional squirters.
You never know when one will show up and squirt you in the face. Heey! There’s an idea. Splash-n-Dash for hire.
Last of a dying profession! You mean the gainfully employed American?
Videos like this really bring back some memories. I remember as a kid on L.I., late 50’s the guy that sharpened knives, scissors out of his old Ford Apache. Good times baby….gooood times. That seltzer machinery though…..
The last 8 real jobs in NYC … yeah, kinda sad.
Mr Big, Thanks for continuing to post items like this. It is going to be a long election year.
If I couldn’t post the human interest, the depraved, the good news, the sappy, the animals, the pop culture, the ribald, the funny, and just had to do straight politics, I doubt the site would still exist.
I appreciate immensely that the readers appreciate the smorgasbord.
My great grandfather used to make buggy whips.
I used to work in a factory that made phone booths
I have never seen a seltzer bottle in my life. Except a photo.
Nothing is forever.
