Now the levee is dry?  Maybe that’s what was the hidden meaning of the song all along.

  1. i’m not taking the bait

while not a mclean fan, i don’t buy into abuse anytime the spouse says so

    case in point

alec baldwin, accused of abuse by kim basinger

yes, alec is an asshole, but i think she was an even worse nutcase

some cannot even argue with the spouse without it being called abuse and resulting in pulling the 911 trigger

    jury’s out

  2. In all seriousness though, my wife has come at me with the abusive crap a couple times. Never physical, she says I abuse her mentally.

Because I bitch when she mixes bleach with ammonia, or I cut a cartoon out of a 1940’s Saturday Evening Post and frame it. After 22 years, I’ve finally learned to not answer her when she asks, what’s wrong.

  3. As a person who works in Family Court, and spent over a year preparing Family Offense petitions, I can tell you that this is the type of family law filing that has the highest bullshit susceptibility index.

The first seven years of my court career I worked exclusively on matters of paternity, child support, and spousal support. Three years ago I transferred to the Family Court in another jurisdiction and began working on matters of custody, visitation and family offense. The very first petition I prepared in this new capacity involved a couple who had filed more than a dozen times against each other during a stormy relationship that spanned a decade and three separate jurisdictions. I remember looking at the screening sheet and thinking to myself, “Huh. If these two were really that dangerous, wouldn’t one of them be dead by now?”

See, the lib arena panders to this nonsense. Poor, defenseless women being harassed by big, evil husband’s and boyfriends! The facts of the matter are: a) both men and women are MUCH more likely to be a crime victim at the hands of a stranger than a family member; b) some of the female complainants are no prize either–psychotic, manipulative shrews who are out for revenge against some slight that that maybe be real, or may be imaginary. But the Feminazis persist in the belief that domestic violence is absolutely center stage in the theater of the world’s evils, and we therefore have this huge, expensive framework in which to coddle the bullshitters as much as the bona fide victims. Men who commit crimes against women should be tried in Criminal Court the same as bank robbers. Period.

  4. Joan, a book?

I see it more as a one-woman, Off-Broadway show. I already have enough material from the eighteen months I spent on the phone as “The Voice of Child Support” for an entire act.
