The first winter after moving to Minnesota, I saw cars on the local lakes. I freaked out because where I came from, the lakes were frozen over enough to walk on but never drive on.
When I got to work the next day and told people what I saw, they laughed at me. Now I know that there are whole mini cities on the lakes during the coldest parts of the winter. There are even car races on the lakes. Oof dah!

Yep, park a few 200 degree engines in the same area, on a sunny 40 degree day, and see how fast a tow truck arrives.
