Equal Time – IOTW Report

Equal Time

It’s been brought to my attention that I’ve been rough on Marco Rubio lately.

Regular readers can probably tell that I offer up flattering stories for the leading contenders and then pepper in a zing now and again. It upsets some readers, and probably confuses others. I don’t mean to upset or confuse.

The reason I do this is because I am looking forward to any of our leading contenders, including Rubio, beating Hillary or Bernie. I have a preferential pecking order, one that may change in the next few weeks, who knows? All I know is that I will be campaigning hard for whoever wins the primary.

There are some sites out there that I feel are so overtly “pro” or “anti” that I think they are marginalizing themselves depending on what happens.

For instance, what if Trump wins? Are some of these anti-Trump sites sites going to remain anti-Trump sites? This will make them, in effect, pro-democrat sites. That’s not good.

What if Trump loses? Some of these sites that are so ardently pro-Trump it will strain credibility when they’re suddenly campaigning for Cruz.

It’s a weird year. The Trump factor has triangulated a 2-party system. It’s best to navigate smartly.

Having said all this, it’s time to post a little pro-Rubio material.

This is a blistering rebuke of Obama’s Israel policy by Marco Rubio.

And this is a video where Rubio displays his impressive depth with foreign affairs.

  1. In the age of Facebook, Rubio wins hands down.
    Trump is a loose cannon.
    Cruz is disliked by everyone.
    Rubio is a photogenic robot.

Yet, look who won last time.
Defense may win championships but style trumps substance these days.

That said, I kind of like Marco.
I believe he will grow to be a good president.
i give him 60/40 odds in Vegas of being the next preezy.

I prefer Cruz but I am being realistic.

  2. Rubio is an open borders advocate who will help with the “fundamental transformation” of our country. After his stunt with the Gang of 8, I don’t know how any conservative-minded person could vote for him. If he is the republican candidate, I will stay home on Election Day and drink vodka — cuz there’ll be no hope for America.

  3. Rubio will be torn to shreds. He has a lot of baggage and the Gang of 8 crap isn’t going to fly in 2016.

I wouldn’t sweat it BFH. Everyone will fall in line no matter who the nominee is from the current group.

A vote for Hilliary is a vote for the destruction of the country…..and I believe the people, including many (D) feel this way now.

  4. Robo-Rubio… turn him on & he’ll dazzle you with his 4 patented speeches.. comes with water bottle & wipey bib…now with expansion pack extra canned answers … extra purchase necessary
    (batteries included)

  5. I hear people talk all the time about what a loose cannon Trump is, and how uncertain we are of how he will act in any given situation. Of course this is true of every candidate. And of course we know far too well how Killary or Bernie will act.
The truth is that while Rubio would be a far different president than Trump, each would likely sign the same bills offered up by a GOP Congress. As with any GOP candidate.
I worry about how Trump will act should he be elected. Will he go crony capitalist? Will he want to give away too much? The same can be said of any of the candidates. All I know is we need to elect a Republican. Personally I think a candidate who can articulate values that matter to Americans is what we need. I think Trump and Cruz, in very different ways, best articulate those values. But that’s just me.

  6. Interesting. In the final analysis, it actually comes down to one thing. Who will appoint 3 Supreme Court Justices in the 2016-2020 term. Democrat or Republican. It doesn’t matter to me who is liked or disliked or for what reason. It only matters that a Non Socialist appoint the Justices who will guide (?) America for the next 50 years. Everything else is bullcrap in the grand scheme of things. This is the defining point of the next Presidency: Control of the SC.

  7. @LC_Dan: Nov 6 is when I will vote for ANYONE who is NOT a Democrat. Truthfully, my candidate cannot or will not run. Reagan is dead, Chesty Puller is dead and Peter Pace isn’t on the slate. Oh well. The 2016 election is about a lot of things. Mostly Supreme Court appointees and enforcement of Laws written by Congress and replacement of SES Directors of EPA, DOJ, IRS, etc. If you get my drift, I would like to see (Ronald Reagan)^3.

  8. Cowboy, we dodged a bullet. Obama could have had one ot two more of those chairs open up. I think Ginsberg held on just to make sure she did as much as she could not to give up her chair while he had the chance to replace her. God bless the old lob bird.

  9. @ Left Coast Dan

    Your point:
“each would likely sign the same bills offered up by a GOP Congress”.

That’s not incentive to vote for either, bills passed by a GOP congress will be scary in itself given the progressive Republican leaderless-ship in the House and Senate.

I don’t have clue what ryan or mcCONnell would do without obama’s direction and pelosi’s and reid’s cooperation.

Sending Trump or Cruz to the white house without “real” leadership in the house and senate is recipe for catastrophic failure.

  10. I should truly wish that everyone would think Strategically .

The next election isn’t about deciding which flavour of Conservatism might match your desires.

It is about denying the Socialist / Democrats an opportunity to totally absorb the entire government of the United States.

Arguing about anything, other than this, is simply stupid.

  11. Whoever wins, they had better be strong enough to pry away some of the power the federal government has granted itself – without the representation of the People – or we might just have a continuation of the same old shit that has been destroying this country.

Government is out of control. It’s going to take a mighty big man to get us back on track again. And he had better be great at working with assholes, that’s about all we have left in Washington.

  12. Every republican who says they will stay home if any, but their candidate wins the nomination, is fulfilling the dream of Hillary and the libs.

I was not going to vote for Romney last time around, but chose to do so for one reason; my vote would cancel out one vote of the democrats.

I know, I know, they stack the deck, cheat, and bribe their votes, but their greatest weapon is republican apathy. Apathy caused way too many republicans to stay home last time.

VOTE, if the libs win again, you may never get a chance, again.

  13. I haven’t read any other comments. I’m just going to say that I think Rubio is exactly the type of guy I’m voting against. If you want to continue being a conservative with a high level of frustration Rubio is your guy.

  14. Fur, I’m glad you’re at least posting something a little positive toward Rubio. I’m a Cruz supporter, but could live with several of our potential nominees. The thing about Rubio’s debate performance is that yes, his answers appeared canned and rehearsed, but he was still RIGHT. Everything he said about Obama not being a stupid man, that in fact the whole Obama “thing” is planned, was correct. I’m tired of the damned backbiting between these idiots, all of them, and the bloggers, too. They need to start talking about the disaster we are witnessing before our very eyes and the even bigger disaster to come if Mrs. Palpatine or Mr. Marx manages to win. I agree with everyone who says we need to beware of a Prog or RINO in conservative clothing. I’m sick of having to do that, too. I don’t trust any of them, even Cruz. It’s up to us to keep their feet to the fire.

  15. @ Sam, I’m not saying I’ll stay home if any but my candidates wins. I’m saying I’ll stay home if RUBIO wins. When it comes to our borders, there is NO DIFFERENCE between Rubio and Hilary. Either way, we’re done. Our sovereignty will dissolve.

  16. The border is important. But it’s not just the border. Obamacare, Taxes, EPA, Military Spending, ISIS, Muslem Imagration, 2A, etc etc. If Rubio is the guy, you better get your butt in the car and go vote for him. Unless you think Sanders or Bengahzi Bitch can do a better job.

  17. I love you BFH, I really do. But if you persist in supporting either of the Cubans, and either of them wins, I’m either not voting or voting for Hillary. I am sick and tired of traveling down the same ole road of political horse shit. We are circling the drain and these two Ricky Recardos aren’t capable of taking on the challenges we must face. I firmly believe we are on the road to a revolution or worse.

We must make some serious changes that either of these two are not prepared to make. If they can’t handle a little vulgarity, they sure as shit can’t handle an entrenched Congress or radical terrorists, like the labor unions.
