1. Having been in the maws of the judicial system for DV, I can attest that it’s very matriarchal. From the scene of the “crime”(she came into my business and threatened me) to the arrest(female officers cared not a whit about my side of the story) to pre trial screening(by females) to her court appointed consoler(a black lesbian who in the course of the goings on was arrested for smashing her car into her partners’, pulling her out through he window and beating the crap out of her.)

   When all was said and done, 2 felonies were reduced to me pleading guilty to lowest possible misdemeanor. The court appointed consoler was in court yelling, “Dis ain’t right, that boys gotta hang” Can you believe that?

   White male privilege my ass.

   My advice? Never call the cops. NEVER-I did and I was the one hauled off.

2. Uh huh. I work in a jurisdiction that is all of 12% white. My minority co-workers just won’t give the privilege thang a rest.

   It took very little time for me to turn into a magnet for loans. Do I LOOK like an ATM? And I’m not talking about folks needing a few bucks the day before payday. I have been asked to rescue people from phone and electric disconnects, put their bills on my credit card, even front their children’s college tuition. The requests can be from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

   I developed a little speech in response to this lunacy. “Look, you and I both had to take the same exam and wait to get called off the same list. We make, to the penny, the same salary. Why are you asking ME for money? I’m sorry to hear that you are having financial difficulties, but I’m afraid you’re going to have to solve them without my input.”

   It seemed to be working well enough until some cuckoo actually had the nerve to ask me to co-sign a mortgage on a $650,000 house because he had bad credit and couldn’t get the loan on his own……

5. The public persona we display as individuals and groups is usually a mask diametrically opposite of reality. Given that, then it is most likely the case that the concept of white privilege is, in reality, projected envy.

6. Zonga-she came into my business, after closing, drunk. I allowed her to park her car in one of my buildings and she threatened to smash my BMW, smash my work and come there when I wasn’t there and destroy everything. Face to face she was spitting in my face and started kicking me in the shin, opening a wound.(i had shorts on) Unfortunately, I grabbed her around the neck and pushed her away.

   In light of her threat I told her to surrender her keys. She refused. I called the police. While I was talking to dispatch she asked to speak to them. Oh man what a mistake but I handed her the phone thinking her slurred speech would give me some credit. She tells the cops I have a weapon on her and she’s crying and afraid for her life.

   She’s looks at me with this gotcha smirk. I waited for the police and calmly explained what happened. OTOH she knew I kept weapons there but couldn’t for the life of her tell the police where they were. I was still moving into this building and the weapons took the police about 15 minutes to dig out the packed crate they were in from under a pile of other moving crates & boxes.

   My bleeding leg and spit covered face, her drunk, in my place of business and obviously the weapons were out of reach didn’t matter a whit. The 2 female cops kept asking about the red marks on her neck.

   $35,000 and 8 months later, my lawyer says there’s no way they’re going to drop all the charges but they offered anger classes, no time and plead to a Class 3 misdemeanor. When I hesitated, she reminded me how quickly she turned on the tears on the phone and did I really want to have an encore performance in court facing 20 years in prison? I took the deal.

7. Yeah, the real privilege is everybody else living in a civilization that white people built where the traffic lights work and you turn a tap and (aside from Flint MI) you can drink the water.

8. @MM: The police have become a law unto themselves. I once had a neighbor who was burglarized. When one of the (female) police officers who responded was leaving the scene, she backed into my car and damaged it. She had the decency to knock on my door and tell me about it. However, in investigating the accident, a male Police Sergeant asked me if I had proof of insurance on my car. I said, “You’re going to ask me for proof of insurance in an accident which could not have possibly been my fault, since I was not even in my car at the time? He said, “Well, it’s on the form, and we have to ask it.” I thought, “Yeah, and if I don’t have it. you’ll have to issue me a ticket for it. Anything to make one of your own look less guilty.” But I didn’t say it. I produced the proof of insurance and was reimbursed by the City for my damages.

   You couldn’t pay me to be a small business owner today. You have my sympathies.
