The Plight of Christian Refugees in Thailand

There is another group suffering persecution in the Far East: Pakistani Christians who have escaped to Thailand.

Fleeing their own country after threats and attacks by Muslim extremists demanding they convert or die, these refugees have found Thailand the only nation willing to give them temporary sanctuary. But the welcome has worn out.

Now the Thai government is jailing those who have overstayed their visas in appallingly bad facilities. They are left to rely on the UNHCR to grant them asylum status and get them in line to emigrate to a nation accepting those subject to religious persecution.

Why aren’t these people a priority for our government to take in? Oh, right, they’re Christians.

They’re skilled enough to set up their own website in another nation, perhaps someone in silicon valley would benefit by seeking H1-B visas for some of them.
