Using the revolutionary CRISPR/Cas 9 gene-editing technique, researchers at Temple University were able to remove HIV-1 genes from immune cells, not only saving them from the virus but also protecting them from re-infection.
The technique could be a way to reduce the overall viral load of someone infected by HIV-1, though not a way to actually remove it from the person’s blood stream (since T-cells produced naturally by the patient would still be susceptible to infection until modified).
It certainly provides a way to maintain an infected person’s immune system without the various cocktails of drugs that all have their own side effects.
Lets hope so, but I am afraid that those nasty sub microscopic bugs usually prove to be much smarter and resilient than all those wise modern human scientists arrayed against them!
Why do they keep bothering with this. HIV is a disease of responsibility. The innocents have long since died or have been treated. They only want to treat this so those who are most likely to be infected can continue their disgusting drug or abberant sex fueled lives.
Weren’t they screwing around with genes when they first invented HIV?
And this is why Barry an the Mooch were in Cuba, doin’ the wave…
This could also be a great way to modify the human body so that it can’t defend itself against anything detrimental to it, therefore killing everyone off.
Because unintended consequences.
Quit messing with nature, and quit fucking other people in the pooper. Eventually HIV will go away on its own.
great. this now means Obama can have unprotected bareback gay fudgepacking sex
Why?
The Bug Chasers are not going to be happy about this.
If a Zombie apocalypse were to occur today, there would immediately spring up advocacy groups upholding their rights to eat peoples brains.
