6. I’ve heard them all. Grew up next door to Kasick, he liked that drek and blasted it all over the neighborhood. That was just before his first involuntary commitment.

7. Had to look up Cliff Nobles & Co. – “The Horse” , didn’t remember the name but the tune is very familiar, and not half bad.

   Couple others aren’t ringing a bell. Music research is an enjoyable task. 🙂

8. One of my most prized 45 records is an early British copy of the Rolling Stones (with 2 cuts on each side) : King Bee, Carol, Walking The Dog, and Can I Get A Witness.

   I don’t have a lot of 45s, most of my older collection is in 33 rpm albums.

10. I flopped totally. When these songs were popular, I was learning the libretto of “Hello, Dolly!”

    Broadway is still my favorite music a half-century later.

12. Like most people my age I’ve heard of all those groups and songs (except the Dick Fellow and Count Five) but the list includes a lot of covers; e.g. Rockin’ Robin was Thurston Harris’ big hit, not Michael Jackson’s.
    Joe Tex’ “Skinny Legs and All” is my favorite soul song, up there with Fats Domino’s “The Fat Man.”
    These titles were the stuff of ’65-’75 FM rock, what you heard on your car radio whether you liked them or not. If you were born in 1977 (!), they’re not impregnated into your brain unless your parents were hooked on “oldies” radio.

13. @Bad_Brad: They didn’t have 45 RPM in 1911. Still using Edison wax cylinder recordings, I believe.

    Nor did I see that song about that Timothy guy from the Donner party.

18. I reviewed my compilation of 78’s and didnt find any of those people you mentioned. Oh, my.

    BTW, i find it difficult to believe that the knowledgeable Mr. Big hadnt heard of x Joe South- Walk a Mile in My Shoes
    x The Grassroots- The River is Wide.

    BTW, I heard a group called The Stuttering Kennedys back in the late 60’s. They mocked the kennedys when Bobby was running. Anyone else remember that/them?
