Suddenly Erick Erickson Has No Problem With the Term La Raza

Donald Trump has asked that the judge in his Trump University case recuse himself because of a potential conflict of interest. Trump has campaigned on closing the southern border, and the judge, Gonzalo Curiel, is a member of the La Raza Lawyers of San Diego, which has handed out scholarships to illegal aliens. (Can you imagine a judge belonging to a group called The White Race Lawyers Group of Salt Lake City, and presiding over a case involving Al Sharpton?)

In the past, Erick Erickson has written, and edited stories written, about La Raza. The organization was not brought up in his writings because it was benign. It was brought up because it is malignant. It was defined as a radicalized group.

But since “principled” Erickson hates Trump, he is clouded to the fact that he’s embarrassing himself with unabashed hypocrisy. He’s gleeful that Curiel is the judge and looks forward to the “unbiased” reaming Trump will get by the La Raza judge.

This should sicken anyone who does stand on principles, and sicken anyone that thinks someone deserves a fair trial in America, whether you like them or not.

Look at this tweet where he suggests a good strategy is to tie Sotomayor, a judge, to La Raza as an indictment.

Here’s an article Erickson edited for RedState-

According to Politico, Pat Leahy has unleashed a screed against Republicans for daring to question Sotomayor’s commitment and participation in/to Racist Organizations like La Raza, (The Race). La Raza advocates taking back the western United States by using mass immigration, Patrick Leahy Hits GOP for “Racist” Comments.

“No Republican leader said she was a bigot,” said Jeff Sessions. “There’s nothing wrong with us asking about her personal views about legal positions that she took as a member of any organization. That’s a normal thing to do.”

Hey Senator Sessions…has the possibility that she is a bigot ever occurred to you and/or any “Republican Leader” and that maybe she should be opposed because she’s part of a group that is actively leading a secession movement.

I would argue there is ample evidence of her bigotry and I would additionally argue she should be opposed as a bigot first and foremost and that’s before we even consider her activist philosophy and comments that the courts are where policy is made!

______!SNIP!______

So, Sotomayor should be struck down for a SCOTUS nomination because she is a bigot because of her association with La Raza, but Trump should quit his whining about having a judge, one that belongs to a group that takes its namesake from the National Council of La Raza, preside over his case.

Okay, Erickson. Whatever you say Mr. Constitutional Principles.

And here is Leon Wolf running defense for his former editor, writing a piece where he says that Curiel has no connection to the National Council of La Raza, the “radical leftwing group that conservatives have come to know and hate,” and he’s merely a member of La Raza Lawyers of California.

OHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhh. The judge, who Erickson has continually pointed out was born in Indiana, is merely part of a Mexican group that takes its name from the organization that is committed to taking back American land. And we can be certain that this group of lawyers has no idea whatsoever what La Raza is or stands for. It’s the same plausible deniability a white-only group would be afforded had they named their group the The Kansas City Clan of Lawyers. The word clan is as innocent as the Spanish word raza, right? Nothing to see. Move along.

Any person with an ounce of objectivity can see the ridiculousness of Erick Erickson’s positions regarding Trump/Curiel.

This sort of self-hypnotizing is discomfiting when it comes from the self-anointed standard bearer of conservatism. Should Erickson be in any sort of position to hold sway when he’s this big a hypocrite?

  1. Erickson has beclowned himself during this campaign. He started his own website that I used to visit but no longer even remember the name of.
Limbaugh just announced that he’ll be out next week. I’m guessing that erickson will no longer be offered a guest host slot.

  2. Erickson, La Raza, Curiel. More grist for the Trump bone mill. These fools don’t even know the can of whoop a$$ they opened on themselves. Just like the GOPe, they have lived in their own self-perpetuating and self-congratulating bubble for so long, they think it represents America.

Just look at Erickson’s tweet with the (Bwahahahahah). I just threw up in my mouth a little. He really does think he’s the evil mastermind. What an idiot.

  3. He’d be turning himself in to a pretzel if he wasn’t so fucking fat.

I especially love how he precluded any kind of debate on his site by not allowing comments-what a candy ass douche.

Will he have any kind of platform after the election? Will anyone be caught dead at his annual gathering? I wrote Rush, not that either of us give a fuck, that putting EE behind the EIB mic is a death wish.

If an 80-year-old woman who is confined to a wheelchair or a three-year-old girl can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

  5. Rush never identified the fill in hosts. Hopefully it’ll be Mark Steyn for at least two of those days.

Should we start a gambling pool on this? Ha.
Steyn, Mark belling, that former via guy from the blaze and I don’t know after that.

  7. Nothing profound in me today – actually, usually never – BUT – a suggestion.

When I look at this photo of EEK I realized his head looks like a large coffee mug. BFH, it need two handles right about where the ears are.

  8. That Trump would work towards handing the left a weapon that can take down the entire judicial system for personal gain does not surprise me. I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that his followers go along with the country going to hell as long as Trump is leading the way.
What is next? A judge can’t handle a case involving a firearm if he is a member of the NRA, even a murder? Every one of you knows, or at least should know, why we don’t do that kind of thing in this country, it is the fast track top tyranny and despot rule.
If Hillary were pulling this stunt, you would recognize it immediately for what it is.
Railroading judges for their political positions is a leftist tactic that aims at the heart of our judicial system.

  9. Now that Erickson’s been fired in disgrace from RedState, he basically has NO platform, NO affiliation, and I expect NO funding to promote or continue his annual RINO Cuck-Fest Gathering.
I’m not sure why Conservative bloggers like BFH are still following this unemployed loser.
Why dignify him with continued coverage of his pointless Tweets from whatever kitchen table or Starbucks booth he now spends his days at ?
Let him slip away into his well deserved ignominious anonymity and be forgotten.
    He has nothing to offer.

    And, GO TRUMP 2016.

  10. I got a question for you Mr. Head Wound. To what point does Trumps world domination take him? The guys already got more money than God. A reasonable man would think if that’s the case, maybe he’s in this for the right reason. Your lack of thought process grows tiring and predictable.

  11. NRA = American citizen’s organization regarding a Constitutionally protected right.

La-Raza = Non American organization regarding taking part of the U.S.A. from the U.S.A.. Anti-Constitional non-citizens. Invading foreigners with the declaration of conquering, at least, part of U.S.A.

    And you equate these?

This is worthy of wondering if you have a head wound. Actually pretty polite, if you ask me. It is extremely offensive to take such an anti-U.S.A. position.

  12. Speaking of head wounds.
Back when this judge was here in CA he was instrumental in rooting out and imprisoning Mexican cartel members He was so effective he spent a lot of time separated from his family, living on military bases due to the efforts to have him assassinated.
While I disagree with La Raza, and I don’t think they should be a legal organization, they are.
If the right can say that belonging to an organization they don’t like disqualifies a judge, so can the left.
I guess that is what you want, dadof4.
Our system is not perfect, but it is good enough that one should seriously think before throwing a wrench in the works.
If you say being a member of an organization you don’t like means a judge can’t be unbiased at the bench, your opposition gets the same rights.
Tape your knees to the chair and use your brains for a change.

  13. Ok, Head Wound, lets flip a bitch on this conversation. By your criteria the KKK is a legal organization. So once out of office if Barry is sued in civil court and the presiding judge is a member of the KKK what do you think is going to happen?

  14. What you do with your women is your business, so I won’t comment on that.
Members of the KKK are currently on the bench, and Bird’s career did not end until near his death. As to your scenario RE Mr. Soetoro, I suspect the left would act exactly as you are.
If you are making the point that the left is correct, just say so. If you have the courage.
I will continue to disagree with your support of the left, as I have always done.

  15. Honestly I think you’ve been living in such a lefty shit hole for so long you wouldn’t know it if it bit you on your ass. Again you try and counter with both sides of the argument.
Just for shits and giggles, by your definition, who is the RIGHT? By name.

  16. You skipped right over the part that they want to take a part of the U.S.A. from the U.S.A. and you hang your hat on the word “legal”.

Your response is intellectually dishonest to avoid the thrust of my point and pin your position on the word “legal”.

It is an anti-U.S.A. organization. No judge should be a part of it. Why? What possible legal grounds could I have to my point?

They take an oath to defend the Constitution and America. Being a part of or in support of La Raza is a breaking of that oath. No different than anyone supporting any other enemy of the country. Al Qaeda, ISIS, German Nazis of WWII, La Raza, etc. – no different.

Since you are aware of what it’s goals are, to not denounce it for what it is is tantamount to supporting it.

You fill the outline of the people I know that completely believe what they say until the rubber hits the road and the choice is really in their face. Fight? Or submit? Which is death in this case.

You’ll die at that point if you keep your current position. Because that is what they want and you didn’t resist it until it was too late.

The best you could be described here is “in denial” and dishonest. OR you hate America too and you’re committed to trying to talk patriots out of defending their country.

“Sit down! Nothing to see here!” – paraphrasing your position.

Which is what you’re doing here.

  17. Thank you BB for conceding the argument and accepting my position by changing the subject.
Do you want a list of all the millions of people on the right, or will Ronald Reagan do?

  18. Dadof4. I 100% agree with you about the organization. I also can’t understand why NAMBLA is a legal organization.
That is a completely different discussion.
Consider, however, this. Many state rights groups argue rebellion against the federal government. Should any judge associated with them be disbarred?
That was just another example among thousands.
The slope you slide on is VERY slippery, and it takes you to a place I know you don’t really want to go.

  19. A relevant answer to what, exactly?
    OK, lets turn this around.
Who, on the right (by your definition)thinks judges should be recused based on their private political positions? Aside from the obvious, Trump. For grins I will accept him as being on the right.

  20. Nope. Once again you avoid the thrust and won’t shoot straight. (the pattern of intellectual dishonesty gets stronger every time you do that) You must resist destructive organizations.

Your position is like saying: Did they fashion a flag? Yes? Well then, THEY’RE LEGIT! We must respect them! No matter that they want you dead. Let it happen.

One thing though: This is NOT an organization that will leave you alone. While our position is: “Stop invading us”. Not going after them. Quite different. Not equal at all.

You’re advocating that no one takes a stand to protect their sovereignty.

You can post all the responses you like. You can have the last word with me. I’m clear you’re committed in the same way Hoffman’s Rainman character was to watching Judge Wapner.

Pearls, swine, mud wrestling – Either saying fits here – no assembly required.

My last post on this subject.

    I dust my feet.

    Have at it.

  21. So, John, you have a problem with ERICK ERICKSON then, right?

He said Sotomayor should be disqualified for her association to La Raza.
    Why? It’s a legal organization?

So, my post stands in righteousness, for it was all about Erick Erickson’s hypocrisy.

    Give me my props.

  22. BFH, did I support Eric in any way?
Did I even bring him up?
Come on, you can do better than that.
Dadof4, politics are a large part of the process of appointing judges, and rightfully so.
Politics is separated from judges once seated, by the constitution, and rightly so.
Are you suggesting that the constitution be altered?
    If so, in what way?

  23. A judge is a jurist, just like a citizen jurist.

Citizen jurors are dismissed all the time during voir dire.

Cureil would be dismissed as a citizen juror in a heartbeat\by the defense,
with no objection by the prosecution.

I was on a jury for a malpractice case.
During the voir dire I learned the case involved a Muslim doctor.
I called the attorneys aside and said I was art director for AFDI, and I explained
    what AFDI is.
They both shook my hand, said my work there was done, and said I did the right thing because
if this was discovered during trial there could be a mistrial.

You’re so wrong on this issue.
Trump is the “bigoted, racist candidate that wants to shut down the border.”
The judge is affiliated with an organization whose namesake is devoted to smashing down the borders and reclaiming land they feel has been stolen.

Ya, this isn’t a case of recusal… nope, no way.

    LOLOL

  24. Oh, I need to hear you say it, then.
Is Erick Erickson a huge hypocrite?

Is he wrong saying Sotomayor should have been disqualified because of her
    association with La Raza?

You weren’t talking about this, but we are now.

  25. BFH, so you agree that recusal is proper in a firearm case where the judge is an NRA member?
It is true that what is politics is a grey area, but in this case, it is obvious.
Should a Republican judge be automatically recused from trying a Democrat?

  26. Eric is not consistent, I will agree with that.
I have no opinion on the guy, I know nothing about him, and see no reason to alter that condition.
That is why I have not discussed him.

  27. I do know about EEK. I do know who his promoters are. You wouldn’t like them either. Rush did a recent turnabout, EEK’s promoters did not.

  28. “A relevant answer to what, exactly”.

You better sit down for this JohnS. Reagan died sometime ago. I hate to be the one to break it to you. Do you want to take another honest run at my question?
