  1. I maintain that way down deep the #NeverTrump people are highly risk-averse. Even though I have every expectation that I will vote for Trump, and I have more reasons than just the one that I despise the Dead-eye Dyke, I also recognize him as a potential disaster. He has made a number of comments about his aims that translate, to me at least, as More Govt Power Over Us. It is healthy to fear that possibility. But as the alternative is a known disaster in the form of another Clinton presidency, the choice is clear. I’ll vote for Trump, but I’ll be very wary.

  2. In my original post I couldn’t go back and edit my commentary (that’s why I posted a “Take 2”) on the BP. What I intended to say was that I wasn’t ready to give up on Whittle. I’ve met him. He has been a steadfast warrior and one of the most articulate voices for conservative. And I think I was like a lot of us who thought that, although a great idea, Whittle was describing a pipe dream. After all, who would fit his description of someone from “pop culture” who was conservative enough? I dismissed the idea and forgot about it.

Then I remembered this epic speech and am stumped over Whittle’s reaction to our nominee — especially since the very reason for this speech is 1) Conservatives don’t believe their own story, 2) We had no one who can forcefully tell that story (this is where Romney failed miserably), and 3) We don’t own the myth (the story), so we can’t fight this fight from within the Republican party.

Watch the video. You tell me. I don’t get it.

  3. Fur, lol! Yeah, you’re most likely right about that. Now that we have someone who has at least held a long gun on stage… I don’t know, did Romney get a rifle from the NRA?

  4. This is when the rubber hits the road. Conservatives vs reality. Bill is a smaht guy and i enjoy his stuff, but this surprises me that he could say such a thing and mean it on the video, but then passes on the only guy out there that will save the 2nd? theres a word for that Bill, no doubt you know it.

  5. Bill Whittle is a powerful voice for our side. If his convictions will not permit him to vote for Donald Trump, then he should be allowed to follow his conscience. Conservatism is all about standing up for your beliefs, even if they are not popular with the majority. If we can’t allow that, then we are no better than the Liberals we oppose.

Let’s not throw out the baby with the bathwater here, folks.
