WT: Pennsylvania police officers picked up the tab Saturday for a couple of diners who reportedly refused to sit next to them.
Four officers were dining at the Eat’n Park restaurant in Homestead when a man told server Jesse Meyers that he didn’t want to sit near them, The Blaze reported.
“A table goes to sit down and the guy looks over at one of the police officers and was like, ‘Nah I don’t want to sit here,’” Mr. Meyers told WTAE, a local ABC News affiliate. “So they got moved completely opposite, away from the police officers.”
Homestead Police Officer Chuck Thomas said it was obvious that the man and the woman he was with didn’t want anything to do with the officers.
“I looked over and said, ‘It’s OK, sir. You won’t have to worry about it, we won’t hurt you,” Officer Thomas recalled. “He looked at me hard again and said he’s not sitting here and walked away.” MORE
Paid their check?
Sure. Then hit them with a $175 speeding ticket when they drove home.
Love it. Better than poking a finger in their eyes.
Eat ‘n Park? I wouldn’t even stop at a stop light in Homestead, PA if you know what I mean.
Proverbs 25:21-22
But they’re better men than I. I’d more likely go the speeding ticket route.
Gosh. I’d rather park and eat. Some things must be done serially, not parallel.
When the Michael Brown nonsense started, I started carrying a few $25 Academy gift cards in my wallet. Whenever I have the chance encounter with a cop, I’ll introduce myself, give them a card, explain it is a small way for my family to show appreciation for the work they do, and remind them the vast majority of citizens respect them.
It’s a simple thing that I know brings a bright moment to their day.
I would have skipped the speeding ticket and gone right for the broken tail and head lights. No way I could do that job and I solute those that do.
and that is how dumb liberals sometimes eat for free.
Sorry, Bad_Brad, that was an up vote not a down vote!
God bless our good policemen and protect them from all evil. There are many more stories of good deeds done by policemen going beyond the call of duty than there are the media twisted and magnified or flat out lied about bad stories.
Yep, and yet, not a single officer in this country received a damn bit of appreciation from the feckless fuckers that refused to be seated beside someone that may some day save you or your loved ones from harm.
Fuck those unappreciative bastards….may their screams for help fall on the ears of liberal democrats everywhere.
This story pisses me off.
I wish I had the opportunity to chip in and buy these guys dinner.
in my business i have the opportunity to buy cops food or drink, so i do
Not bragging, i have done it for years. You get the opportunity to bless someone. i think we should all do this.
About two weeks after 9/11/01 I visited the area with a friend who used to work in one of the buildings. He was a retired Insurance Exec. We visited a bar north of the Towers where he used to be a regular. The bartender, an Irishman, was a friend of his and we chatted away about that horrible morning and the aftermath. At times
he would tear up just thinking about it. But then he showed us a stack of about 20 credit cards left by businessmen from as far away as LA and London. They were used to pick up the tabs of workers in the area who came in for lunch. God Bless America.
I would’ve been okay with them pulling out the billy clubs. But it’s their call.
I’ve been in the job for 25+ years and have never personally seen what LBS mentioned. It goes against the grain for the officers I have worked with and those that I have been around. However, there may always one and rest assured, other cops don’t like them either.
I have many times contacted a driver and decided not to write a ticket and give a warning only. Upon contact to tell them to slow down or whatever, they come across with some B.S. argument. I have never changed my mind and written them after having made the decision not to and with that decision being prior to the enforcement stop. I have however decided to write a ticket and changed my mind after contact with the driver and talking to them.
The problem is, citizens sometimes don’t know how to casually talk to cops and, cops sometimes don’t know how to casually talk to citizens. We all put our pants on, ‘one leg at a time.’ My late partner and friend (ILODD), was one of the best at this.
I recall him contacting a broken down driver on the side of the highway one early A.M. and the driver had his hood up (the universal motorist sign of distress):
Do you need help, he asked.
Yeah, can you call me a tow truck?
Sure, he said! “You’re a TOW TRUCK!” Starts to get back in his unit and the guy comes franticly running up to him. Just kidding, my partner says. You asked me to call you a tow truck so I did. 😉
INN YOUR FACE, SUCKERS!
Gotta love it.
Not to be a downer, but what first struck me about this story was that 4 officers made themselves sitting ducks in a restaurant. This is how four of our finest were executed in a coffee shop in Lakewood, WA. Especially now, I hope they are very careful about where they sit in a restaurant. Things happen so fast. The anti-cop guy could have just as easily walked up to them and started shooting.
They should have paid with confederate money!
Abigail. True story. A rookie, just out of the academy, was pestering his training officer with questions. What would you if this, what would you do if that? Where would you sit in a restaurant? Would you sit facing the door? Would you sit away from the register? Would you sit so you could cover the whole restaurant?
Would you………………… “Kid, I’ll sit where ever the hell I can find a seat.”
Ah the old days.
Yesterday was my cousin’s bday. At my lunchtime, I took him to a nice hometown restaurant. I was on duty, in my class A uniform. I intended to pay for his meal. I got to the register and a random citizen cut in front and paid my bill for me, despite my pleasant objection.
I was very humbled. It made my day. Especially with all the negative stuff going on……
