Update: This was posted this weekend. It’s being bumped for the weekday audience.

I spoke with Admin Girl late last night. She sounded better and in good spirits. She assured me that she was going to read this thread and was choked up by it and thanks everyone.

Longtime readers know that Admin Girl was the heart and soul of iOwnTheWorld.

She was the original developer of the site, and was the head mistress who kept us original core knuckleheads in check. Without her we would have run the website into the ground with our poor decisions and ribald and reckless sensibilities.

She lent gravitas to the site, often times behind the scenes forging relationships with other sites and writers who helped legitimize us. She introduced me to Thomas Lifson, editor of American Thinker, a man who singularly put us on the map and got us up and running on day one.

She was the voice of reason and business when we were prone to being irresponsible frat boys.

Speaking of voices, she is also a magnificent voice-over artist. Here she is lending her talent to one of our very first videos – Oil of Obama:

Tonight, Admin Girl is gravely ill. We are hoping and praying that she can rally back as she has done so many times in the past. Admin Girl is so, so strong, but this time she can use a boost.

I’m sending my blessings into the ether. I hope you will join me.

    When BigFurHat, Hippie Critic, Mr. Pinko and I were just 4 idiots cracking each other up with emails that can best be described as “unleashed” we occasionally were approached by others who wanted to join in. I remember one time a woman friend of one of us was begging to get in the loop, and we were open to anyone. The only criteria: We hold back for no one. The woman was made a full participant. And in less than a week… she was begging to get OUT of our loop. I think there may have even been a threat from her husband.
    Well, we said, “We’ll never do that again.”
    And then, we met AdminGirl. She not only got in the loop, she was smacking us around. And we liked it!
    The rest, as they say, is history.

  45. This might have been the first video (Oil of Obama) I ever stumbled across when I found iOWNTHEWORLD. I remember making a comment on the post how beautiful this voice was–I was so new to the blog that I didn’t know about Admin Girl–BigFurHat responded immediately. I’d just listened to the most lovely voice this side of heaven. I wish you well, Admin Girl, and I said a prayer for you tonight.

  59. May I have a first name? The one her mother gave her. Silly of me perhaps as an agnostic, but I do pray on occasion. And I have troubled myself to learn how prayer is supposed to work. It doesn’t conflict within me to ask for another. I would like to ask properly.

    I’m seeing names here that I haven’t seen as often as I like, names that go back to the salad days when Admin Girl was the first to greet everyone in the morning and the last to turn out the lights.

    It’s almost a decade since these names from year one and two filled and dominated the recent comments sidebar.

  87. Just throwing this out here. We would all like to know her first name. It’s not like her last name is girl. She’s only posted a few times since I’ve been here. But based on those posts she is something special. Just sayen it’s hard to pray for a generic name.

    Besides, a first name, or lack of one, will not hinder or help our prayers.

  162. And Larry, you ignorant slut!! My wife and I for example, we had the same insurance policy for nearly 30 years. It got cancelled as well as the next two policy’s we had. Now we find out that the one we have now is being cancelled at year end. Do you think our coverage is getting better? HELL NO!!

    Me: I have a prayer request for someone who is ill. Please just refer to her as Admin Girl. And please ask for our congregation to pray for her health and healing.

    Pastor: Admin Girl? Do you know her actual name?

    Me: No, I just know her online as Admin Girl. She is a conservative publisher online who I care about.

    Pastor: OK, I get it. Thank you, I will definitely ask for prayers for her during my pastoral prayer.

    Me: Thank you, I knew you would understand.
