This morning I was sitting on a park bench next to a homeless man.
I started a conversation by asking him how he ended up this way.
He said, “Up until last week, I still had it all. I had plenty to
eat, my clothes were washed and pressed,
I had a roof over my head, I had TV and Internet, and I went to the
gym, the pool, and the library.
I was working on my MBA on-line. I had no bills and no debt. I even
had full medical coverage.”
I felt sorry for him, so I asked,
“What happened? Drugs? Alcohol? Divorce? ”
“Oh no, nothing like that , ” he said. “No, no. I got out of prison.”

When in reality he should have been learning how to make small rocks out of big ones.
When I was in USMC boot camp, the guys that screwed up were sent to the Correctional Custody Platoon (CCP). Maybe they got caught eating a candy bar after chow, or started a fight. These guys had to get out of the rack at 5am and meet up out in a field. Each was issued a shovel. They were told to shovel a scoop of dirt, throw it to their right, then take a step forward and slightly left. Repeat. Over and over. After several hours they had dug a circular hole so deep you couldn’t see their heads – you just saw dirt flying out – and the Drill Instructor was standing in the middle. That’s when they were told to climb out of the hole and push the dirt back in to fill it up.
Yeah, there’s a lot to be said there. The crooks ‘deserve’ prison time which turns out to be what most people strive for……short of the loss of freedom.
Well look at the upside of this. The fact that he was sitting on a park bench is good indication that at least his butthole is getting back to normal…
A guy ran for Preznit a couple of decades ago using as his theme “Working people should be better off than Welfare recipients.”
Somebody should try “Working people should be better off than Prisoners.”
There’s a reason it costs $30,000 (or whatever) per year to incarcerate.
