In what is the largest ever breach of e-mail accounts, Yahoo! announced yesterday that hackers were able to steal information for upwards of 500 million user accounts (about half of all users). The company blames “state sponsors” and is cooperating with authorities to investigate the theft.
In August, someone offered to sell 200 million Yahoo! accounts in the “dark market” of the internet, which seems like a strange thing for a “state sponsor” to do.
